Hi all,

I've been offered GA (3 day) tickets for Silverstone at face value by a friend which I'm snapping up.

It'll be my first GP at Silverstone so I'd love to know:
1. Where are the best spots for viewing?
2. Any other tips for GA (Get there early...)

Thanks!

You have the full 3 days, so you will be able to walk round the whole of the outside of the circuit in that time, and find your own spot. Use the Friday to do that and see where you like the best. It will also give you a perspective of the whole circuit. There will be more pressure this year, as the end of Copse terrace to Maggotts is out of bounds because of building work, and that's a lot of trackside you can't stand at this year. In addition, some of the grandstands have been extended, so that has also lost some GA trackside viewing.

Roving grandstand access is included in the GA ticket on Friday only, so that will get you into some of the grandstands for free, and you will be able to get the circuit perspective from various grandstands.

You also won't be able to shortcut through the centre of the circuit and under Copse Tunnel, say to get from Farm to National Pits Straight, because you need a centre access ticket for that, and they are all sold out, at least for Saturday and Sunday, and probably Friday by now, so there will be a lot of walking.

That also means that you won't ever be on the inside of the circuit.

You also need someone to save your spot when you go to the toilet, because it will be gone when you get back on the Sunday.

You should also visit the F1 Fanzone which is between the museum (which is also really worth a visit (not free and not included in the F1 ticket) and Wellington Straight.

Thanks for the tips, from your perspective where are the good GA spots for this year?

If your there all weekend then move around obviously, but even when we have had grandstands for the race I massively enjoyed stnading on this banking and look as per the arrow - if you get low down, you get an incredible view of the change of direction through maggots/becketts. Its amazing.

Read the thread about Escapade Silverstone and you might have second thoughts about Maggots Becketts

Its at the other end - you can even see its already on google maps. The banking I've highlighted is looking back the wrong way up the track (cars coming toward you).

When I was at Silverstone for Britcar, I was stood on the inside of maggots/beckett (outside of loop), I think they have placed a stand in the area that you've marked now. I need to check my pictures!

I've always liked Luffield for GA, got great pics there last year, but it looks like you have to pay extra for that area now. Like a GA+ ticket frown

X marks the spot as they say…. Seeing fast cars approaching at top speed is always exciting. You’re remarkably close here considering it’s Silverstone.

The area in front of Vale grandstand is good too. It’s on a very slight incline so you can normally find a good spot to see them down Hangar Straight, you lose them for a few seconds round Stowe, then they pop out into Vale (or the pits)
