This case has always piqued my interest - poor chap and family

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-i...

Seems like he voiced concerns regarding a neighboring hotels decking - not very plausible for murdering him, but you never know

Its odd that nothing has ever really come out about this and no answers , wonder if anyone had any thoughts?

The old adage that someone "must know something" rings true , but still really tragic and enigmatic

I’ve followed this from the start. Alistair was in my year at school.

So far, every lead has returned a blank. The gun, the letter.

Every potential line of enquiry has also returned a blank eg the wife did it, he had a bit on the side, dodgy financial bank dealings, etc. I guess this recent development is just another ‘who else could of had a grudge’ line of thought.

I’ve always thought it was mistaken identity.

There was. Although it is a common/popular enough name that you'd think a gunman would have made double sure they'd tracked down the correct person...

Also, if it had been a mistaken identity wouldn't the correct Alistair Wilson have also been knocked off by now? biggrin

if that was the case, I would have thought that a bit of detective work on other Alistair Wilson's might have uncovered some dodgy dealings that would warrant a murder by a a hit man. And if so, you might therefore be able to find a motive and ultimately the killer.

There was a BBC podcast about this a couple of years ago
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/series/p067wdql

It will be interesting to see where this new information leads.
