these cars are 90-100k now.

Usage is road only. Would want one with either manual or glass roof. Looking to keep 1-2 years. What are the pros and cons.

Suspect 992 has better road manners?

Initially was looking for 991 T with manual and 4 seats but can't seem to be able to find 1 i like in right color and spec.

I've owned both in similar spec ie Coupe 2WD and PDK and much preferred the 991.2GTS. Its a far better and nicer driver's car except the 992 has a more modern cabin.

Drive them both and make your own decision. Agree with the above post that the 992 interior is much more modern, which could swing it for me if there wasn’t much between the two cars dynamically.

thank you. Very kind answer. Initially was looking at carrera T as a weekend car only. Drove it and loved it but can't find spec i am after.

I did drive a 991.2 GTS a long while ago so only have distant memory.

Don't want something too harsh. Needs to be relatively easy going.

My other concern is value retention.
Always thought that the GTS is that little bit more special ie a 991.2 gts may lose a little less than a 992s over 2-3 years? Would love a 992 GTS but at near enough £150k it won't happen.

The gts is more fun ,the 992 felt quite a bit bigger on the smaller roads. However the 992 rides much better ,has a more up to date interior (although I prefer the real buttons of the 911 as opposed to the touch screen nonsense of the 992) .
The gts is more sports car feeling whereas the 992 feels a lot more gt ish .

I may be in the minority, but I thought the manual gearbox in the 991.2 GTS was pretty poor. No idea why they thought it needed to be 7 speed for starters, and not a particularly snappy or precise change. By comparison, a Lotus Evora is streets ahead.

I swapped mine for a 992 C4S PDK after less than a year and don't miss the GTS.

thanks, i think my choice would be:

Either:
991.2 C2 GTS PDK with glass roof.
or
991.2 T manual (which i drove and loved)

992s i did not drive yet but once again would be in PDK form, they below £100k now in some cases.

The 992 is better in every way that matters. Engine pulls better, less lag, better steering, better turn-in. Interior is a different level as well.

Now that the 992 has been around a while I also think the 991 looks really dated.

I prefer the base models, so for me 991.2 manual (which I thought has a great gearbox - better than 991.1)
Or, base 992 - but you can’t have that in manual - until the 992T comes out later this year.

Another variable to consider is that Porsche introduced GPFs midway through the production run of the 991.2 GTS. I’ve noticed my 2017 991.2 GTS sounds different to newer 991.2 GTSs and apparently max torque is slightly lower in the rev range too.

I also agree with previous posts where the 991 is more sporty and the 992 is more GT. Either way, you’d be very happy.

i think i need to drive a 992s. Although buying up here with a heated up market may not be the best financial decision with a 2-3 year horizon.

I’ve also got a keen eye on these. Although more 991S or GTS. It would be a third car for me and I know the latest Porsche is the greatest but for me I still prefer the 991 shape. I’ve been humming and hahing for a couple of years and of course prices today are much higher than 2020. I do see a lot of 991s hanging around and not selling, I will probably still check every couple of days but wait a few months and see where they are.
