Dismissed by Cake?
Discussion
I wonder how many PM's have been replaced for obscure reasons?
The current incumbent appears to be on the verge of losing his position by dint of having a 'party', with cake, and maybe a glass of something whilst having a break from the day to day stress of running the country during a pandemic. The fact he has attempted to dismiss this akin to munching cake in the Dorm at Eton when he should be swatting for double Latin the next day, seems extraordinary, but not unexpected.
Notwithstanding, he has been 'fingered' by Dom Cummin, of course, who is evidently behind much of this assassination, as revenge for his dismissal from the court of BJ!
So, which other PM had a similar fall from grace?

William Pitt the Younger was leading the country during the Napoleonic Wars when one of his comments so insulted a fellow MP that the guy demanded a duel. Both deliberately missed but that would have been a daft way to go!
Macmillan resigned after the Profumo affair which was embarrassing, but I think he wanted out by then.
TBH, if Boris is pushed. it won't be because of cake. It's simply the crumb that broke the camels back.
I thought Cameron's demise was as delicious as it was ridiculous.
Gordon Brown technically resigned whilst PM didn't he? I bet that was over the Stupid Bigoted Woman comment. Also didn't call an election during the Mad Cow outbreak as he thought it made the government look bad... cue the GFC.

Cameron, who promised to lead the country whatever the result of the EU Referendum, then promptly sniffed his last statement in front of No 10 before departing to leave us, ultimately, in the hands of Boris. Cowardice is probably worse than denying cake was consumed and only just above lying that he would stay!
Ted Heath had a few skeletons in the cupboard but what ultimately did for him?

Was ever in a position of grace to fall from? So, which other PM had a similar fall from grace?
Might be wrong though...

No, if he loses his job, it'll be because he repeated lied about it to the HoC. This is nothing to do with cake. It's about lying.

Indeed, pathetic attempt to pretend the PM wasn't dishonest repeatedly.
Shall we mention lying to Parliament about the WMD's in Iraq, although there were no photos of Blair stood next to one, yet it seems he knew the truth and still supported the war and sent troops to the ME?Maybe that is different from eating cake and lying about it?
I totally despise the Tories (although I'm no flag waver for Labour either). But people should be careful what they wish for. Johnson being kicked out unceremoniously is a nice thought, but no one seems to be thinking about who replaces him.
The options are as repellent as Johnson. Morons like Gove and Truss seem to be front runners if a lot of people are to be believed, Truss seems to think she is the reincarnation of Thatcher (hopefully her ignorance in her meetings with Lavrov finally count her out) and Ken Clarkes comments about Gove should worry anyone.
They are all so utterly out if their depth if it wasn't so serious it would be hilarious. At the most serious time for the country we have had the very worst most incompetent people at the helm.

Which is also in no small part a consequence of Boris' own night of the long knives ensuring we've a bunch of yes-men on one side of the house, though he can't be blamed for Milliband's wreckage opposite. The options are as repellent as Johnson. I wonder if there is another way to look at this? Has any PM been involved in so much scandal, accusations, had so much negative press and been deemed so unworthy for office and continued on regardless...
No sitting PM charged with an offence surprised me actually. What's the record for breaches of ministerial code by a sitting minister? Priti must be in with a shout for that.

The degree of negative press does not necessarily correlate with the offence committed. Blair was accused of all sorts of serious wrongdoing over the years. From exempting F1 from the tobacco ban in exchange for a £1m to lying to take the country into the Iraq war.It is a matter of personal opinion whether people view these as more or less serious than the issues Boris is accused of.
A senior politician framed her predecessor for sexual offences, commenced and lost a vexatious prosecution against him because there was evidence that she tried to manufacture witnesses, then lied about it to parliament, allegedly put in place a gagging order to prevent the media reporting her perverting the course of justice, then spent 8 hours in front of a parliamentary enquiry feigning ignorance about the whole thing safe in the knowledge she had legally prevented the evidence from being considered by the enquiry despite it having been published and then redacted by a leading newspaper and elements being put to Hansard by an MP using parliamentary privilege.
She's still in post 2 years later!

On the subject of PMs or MPs and scandal there have been many, but agreed dismissed by cake would be a pathetic career epitaph. Although being politically compromised for defending eating cake isn't a tasty looking option either.
