Hi,

I have a 49cc moped and am unsure about what I select for my license when purchasing insurance.

I have completed my CBT and have had a full car license for 7 years.

Should I select that I have a provisional bike license or a full UK Moped license?

I'd imagine - IANAL - the answer lies in whether you'll need L plates.

You hold a Full Licence to ride a Moped.
It will state that on your license.
Very clear.

Yep, what he says plus Gov.UK also says:

You passed your driving test on or after 1 February 2001
You’ll get a full moped licence if you either:

Pass your car driving test and then complete a compulsory basic training (CBT) course or
complete a CBT course and then pass your car driving test within two years

You can then ride a moped (up to 50cc) without L plates. You do not need to take the full moped test.

You can ride mopeds for as long as your car driving licence lasts.

Personally I would be careful, because comparison sites may be putting forward details for a generic 'bike' policy.

A phone call to the insurance retailer might be prudent.

At least read the details you are signing up to carefully.

Nope, no need to be careful, prudent or phone the insurer. He has a full licence. End of story.

The OP realises it's ambiguous, he's already on the wrong foot.
