996 GT3 - PPI Recommendations - Essex
Discussion
I used porscheinspections.com to check mine over before I purchased it.
It was outside of their declared area just as Colchester is but I asked and they made an exception and I was very pleased with the service they provided.
As you haven’t been deluged with suggestions then I suggest it may be worth a chat.

Great, I hadn't been thought of mobile inspections. I'll get in touch.

Worth making sure the inspection includes access to the underside of the car ie you are able to get it on a ramp. May be tricky with a mobile inspection.
I would travel to get a proper inspection, a few places within 30 mins from you I suspect.
Yes, I'm liking the look of PIE Performance referenced by JulianI would travel to get a proper inspection, a few places within 30 mins from you I suspect.
I'd like a compression/leakdown test too

LHD just wouldn't work for the way I'd use the car. Overtaking on B roads becomes almost suicidal mission with LHD
Not sure - my 928GT is LHD and my 996.1 CS K400 is LHD. Did about 50k miles in the GT and 15k miles in the GT3 - the cars have enough punch that overtaking can be done safely and with ease. Granted, it will never be the same as a RHD... BUT...
The 996GT3 is better as a LHD platform - bigger 90ltr fuel tank and also, the routing of the steering column gives you a better steering wheel angle relative to the seat. Also, the pedals aren't off-set as on the RHD cars.
Give the guys at Autostrasse in Coggeshall a call 01376562922.
If they cant help you I'm sure they would be able to recommend someone, Ive nothing but praise for these guys as they have always been good whenever ive used them. I was there just before easter and they had a few GT3's and Turbos in there, they know their stuff.

yes, I know what you mean,. If I could get along with LHD an 80's LHD SC hotrod might have been on my list. It's just here in Ireland/Nth Ireland the roads are hard work even in RHD.Granted, it will never be the same as a RHD... BUT...

I have never been, but if they are anything like some of the roads in the NW of Scotland, I agree with you. They were hard work even in my RHD Z4MC when I did a big tour in 2008...siwil1 said:

I'd second that. I have heard of them, only issue is the owner of this car also has an air cooled and he had a bad experience with it at Autostrasse and never went back. Sort of put me off the idea but maybe I will research further as companies can have a 'bad spell' now and again if key personal leave etc.If they cant help you I'm sure they would be able to recommend someone, Ive nothing but praise for these guys as they have always been good whenever ive used them. I chatted to Chris at PIE performance today and very impressed. He seems to know (and like) the 996 GT3's.

My brother recently bought a car from Pie and couldn't fault them. He said they were an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish. As you have already spoken to them, I might be preaching to the converted.
Did he buy their Silver 996 GT3 - sounded like a minter!

If that one doesn't work out, am loving the look of the LHD Zanzibar 996.1 GT3 at Williams Crawford. Price looks sensible too, £60k.
Ha! That's my old car resurfaced.
I did 60K miles in 6.5 years and loved every bit of it. It hasn't traveled far in the 9 years since I sold it mind you ...
