He doesn't give much detail about the grooming, but to be honest, his earlier years sound pretty bad, which I wasn't aware of.

His Dad walked out on him and his Mum when he was little, and was then murdered in 2008. His stepfather used to beat him and call him a 'faggot' for wearing cycling clothing.

He probably was groomed as a kid.
Funny thing to make up if you hadn’t been.

My dad used to call me a ‘fruit’ for wearing cycling kit, but that’s just that generation I suspect.

Brad gets bad press from some quarters due to his success. But he is incredibly talented & hard working.

When you look at great sports stars so many of them have had rough or unconventional up bridging’s. Take the example of someone like Greg LeMond, who had a pleasant & stable home life who went on to be a (usual caveats etc etc) clean rider.
If Greg hadn’t made it he would have been helped through University & been the nice guy in the local club who could have been a contender.

Now compare them to someone like Lance who’s ‘win at all costs’ mentality was a key part of his psyche.
Or Femke Van den Driessche who has a very chaotic life off the bike which no doubt influenced her attitude to having a motor in her CX bike!

Now compare to Brad, who despite a less than stable upbringing managed to achieve a huge amount, and still doesn’t appear to have indulged the worst excesses that the sports pharmacologists have to offer is so much more commendable.

Must have been horrific and even more so where he seems to have had zero support/normality at home.

I had a chat with Bradley Wiggins on the train a couple of years ago - he came across as a genuinely nice, down to earth guy.

I feel sorry for Bradley.

True story bro etc, we'd a teacher at school who was an obvious pervert to us. But it never twigged in our imagination to consider or empathise with those he was abusing until much older. Feral fking perverts rely on the innocence of childhood to get away with their crimes. That the one I know is dead is a saving grace, that he died with his reputation in tatters is a better one, I'll not name him for legal reasons as dead as the fker is he has family.

LeMond was also abused as a kid.
