Round 4 and Imola, a narrow and fast circuit as expertly shown by Bottas and Russell last year. Difficult to say who it will favour but Verstappen and Leclerc will be right up there. Sainz needs a good weekend, surely Aston Martin can't be as bad again? Either way, if it’s half as exciting as last year’s race, it will be a cracker.
There probably won’t be many upgrades as it’s a Sprint Race format weekend, so testing is limited; you’d be brave bolting on a new floor with only 1 hour’s practice before qualifying.
I've added a poll- interesting to see what PH thinks.
Date(s): Friday 22 April to Sunday 24 April 2022.
UK Broadcast Timings (and local time)
All sessions are live on Sky F1. Qualifying and the race are shown as highlights on Channel 4.

Weather forecast:

First old-school circuit of the season - fast and narrow, and with a lot of potential for an exciting but disrupted race.
Will be great to see these cars flat out in qualifying though, threading the needle on a track that is probably too small for them these days. Great to see it re-introduced to the calendar though.
Shame about the sprint bks, which is likely to dominate the discussions - the format just doesn’t work in the context of the championship, but it’s been great for the audience numbers so isn’t going anywhere. I’m expecting a boring Saturday ‘race’, with no-one risking an overtake lest they have to start at the back on Sunday.
Only the single practice session to set up the cars though, so a lot of compromises might be needed by some teams (Mercedes!) rather than pushing the setup too hard.

Qualifying 2 hours later than the race start!
Quali Friday, Sprint Saturday, "Proper race" Sunday…Incidentally, if the race weekend was one week later the Imola GP would be taking place on May 1st ..I wonder whether that had any influence on the date chosen ?

Looks like wet FP1 practice & Quali, so floor levels will go up (for most teams), this should suit Aston and Merc whom are already running high downforce and high floors.
Dry sprint (interesting)..&FP2..
Very probable wet race.
Oh yes!
If last year is anything to go by, adding rain will make the race somewhat more exciting. Doubly so, if it rains on Friday for the single practice session and qualifying. Dry sprint (interesting)..&FP2..
Very probable wet race.
Oh yes!
I think we'll see Merc on the podium again here...behind another Ferrari 1-2.
RBR will finish in the points, but 6-8th due to running more conservatively to try and actually get some points.
Also, thanks again to the Rt Hon Mr Pig for the thread!

FP1 starts at 13:30 local time so very likely to be a soaked track if not still raining.
Quali (also on the Friday) starts 17:00 which is looking likely to be dry, or just a little rain.
And then the rest of the weekend looks just fine.
I reckon a good 50% chance rain will make quali difficult one way or another, even it's only because it entirely ruins the single hour of practice they get. Bring it on...
