I am going to be specking a 992 C2 and a little unsure if to get a glass sun roof. I know it probably makes the car a little easy to sell and gives some light but it is another potential item which can go wrong and also prone to squeaks and leak. I had a 996 Targa many moons ago and the Targa roof was a constant source of problem. What are the views and experience. People who got the sunroof would you get it again - any issues?
Thanks

Have you been quoted a likely delivery date for a c2 ?
The only reason I mention this, is that we wanted to order a C2 cab (Dec 21) and the likely delivery was late 2024 whereas a C2S cab was Jan 23 hence we went for the S model
Good luck

I booked in May 21, and have a build date in July 22

I didn't spec one - never liked them, although I can see the possible benefits of a Pano roof in a four seater - especially for rear seat passengers.

Seriously doubt there would be any leaking issues.

Hi I have one on my 991.2 GTS, which I’ve had from new. I had a slight rattle which was sorted under warranty. Otherwise it’s been fine, no leaks. It permits you to change the character of the car and in my opinion is very desirable.

I went from a 996 Targa to a 991 with the glass sunroof as the nearest and newest alternative. I did not want to start again with a 997 Targa.

I have no issues with the roof and it is a much simpler piece of kit than that on the 996 Targa so I don't anticipate any future problems. It goes up and back rather than down and back and is not unique to Porsche, I think.

It isn't as big an opening as the 996 Targa and it generates a lot more wind noise and of course you don't get an opening rear window. So generally not as good a glass roof as the 996 Targa but also without the problems and the only modern alternative.

As with the 996 the glass roof operates while on the move, unlike the 991 and 992 Targa roofs.

without looks better in my opinion. The 992, as it is, has lost a lot of the 911 charm already, and with the sunroof it just looks like a fat greenhouse.

I have this on my 992 C2. I think it looks good as you have a continuous block of black glass from boot to windshield which can work well with some colour combinations and presuming you specced privacy glass. No issues with the sunroof in the 2.5 years I've had my 992. It only creaks when the car is dropping off a curb one rear wheel at a time. Presumably that's because the body is twisting a little under stress.

Porsche sunroofs can leak with the first symptom often being electrical issues. If you’re planning to always have a warranty then fine, if not then better without.

I do agree with the post saying that it looks good with certain colours (white/crayon).

I went for the carbon roof on my 992, and it looks lovely, especially just after cleaning in the sun shine.

I agree that light colours do look better. I am getting aventurine green which probably will look better without Sunroof.

My second 992C2S coming in July, glass roof on previous one (pic in my profile) and specced again on new one - faultless and no rattles/squeaks etc in 8k miles on last one. Agree Neoto comment above re continuous glass

Adds weight and raises CoG. Not needed.

Mine is GT Silver, I think, it is the silver that looks a little bit dirty all the time.

Thats encouraging, I ordered mine on July 1st 2021 and plan to chase my dealer on May 1st.

Mine is specked with a glass roof. I like the look, the light it lets in and being able to open it when the weather is warm rather and close it when hot.

The purist view, although I would personally agree, on a 911
And, I do think the classic flowing roofline looks so much better in the same body colour.

On the fat 992 the change in weight and CoG are neither here nor there IMO.

I have ordered one on mine, I just quite like the look and contrast.

I ordered in December 21 and was told 8 to 10 months. 992 C2

I wish there was an option of solid glass roof (not opening) like on Taycan.
I like the extra light , I dont need wind in my last 3-hairs.
