992 C2 - With or without Glass Sunroof?
Discussion
I am going to be specking a 992 C2 and a little unsure if to get a glass sun roof. I know it probably makes the car a little easy to sell and gives some light but it is another potential item which can go wrong and also prone to squeaks and leak. I had a 996 Targa many moons ago and the Targa roof was a constant source of problem. What are the views and experience. People who got the sunroof would you get it again - any issues?
Thanks
Thanks

Have you been quoted a likely delivery date for a c2 ?
The only reason I mention this, is that we wanted to order a C2 cab (Dec 21) and the likely delivery was late 2024 whereas a C2S cab was Jan 23 hence we went for the S model
Good luck

I went from a 996 Targa to a 991 with the glass sunroof as the nearest and newest alternative. I did not want to start again with a 997 Targa.
I have no issues with the roof and it is a much simpler piece of kit than that on the 996 Targa so I don't anticipate any future problems. It goes up and back rather than down and back and is not unique to Porsche, I think.
It isn't as big an opening as the 996 Targa and it generates a lot more wind noise and of course you don't get an opening rear window. So generally not as good a glass roof as the 996 Targa but also without the problems and the only modern alternative.
As with the 996 the glass roof operates while on the move, unlike the 991 and 992 Targa roofs.

I have this on my 992 C2. I think it looks good as you have a continuous block of black glass from boot to windshield which can work well with some colour combinations and presuming you specced privacy glass. No issues with the sunroof in the 2.5 years I've had my 992. It only creaks when the car is dropping off a curb one rear wheel at a time. Presumably that's because the body is twisting a little under stress.

Thats encouraging, I ordered mine on July 1st 2021 and plan to chase my dealer on May 1st.Mine is specked with a glass roof. I like the look, the light it lets in and being able to open it when the weather is warm rather and close it when hot.

Adds weight and raises CoG. Not needed.
The purist view, although I would personally agree, on a 911And, I do think the classic flowing roofline looks so much better in the same body colour.
