Moving to the USA next week

Hi all, well maybe the week after waiting on my passport to come back from the US embassy. Looking back I worked myself up not sleeping the night before the interview. It was bloody easy one question about work and that was that.
Anyways apologies for the rambling. I’ve just been reading the post about the cheese and how it’s hard to find good cheese out there is there anything else worth being out with me any tips to find home comforts.
I’ll be based in Chicago any petrolhead up for a beer a good place to watch the F1?

Am a mechanic Off to work for a Indycar team. US has a lot of large racing program at the moment or coming online and a shortage of experienced staff. 
It is possible to eventually find Cheddar that is actual cheese and does not have "processed" written in small letters.
Branston Pickle, not so easy, it is sometimes available in stupid little 6 ounce jars. Good for neither man nor beast.
I get my visitors to bring over the catering size, a couple of kilos I think. If they arrive without it they're left at the airport.

Congrats. Chicago based PHer here. Trader Joe’s (a posh subsidiary of Aldi) has all the good cheeses you’d ever need (proper imported stuff), and they do decent frozen curries also. Branston pickle, mango chutney, oxo cubes, Bisto etc, World Market, or more conveniently Amazon these days.
The days of needing visitors to bring stocks over from the UK are gone. It’s nice to tell folks to do that, gives them something to bring, but it’s generally readily available these days online. Just expect to pay a premium, but that’s to be expected.
Only stuff you can’t get off the shelf or without making a trip to a “specialist” that I miss are pork pies, scotch eggs, and other UK specific refrigerated convenience foods.
But aside from that, you can generally get it no problem.
Chicago has a good car show scene, which is coming up now that winter is over.

Reiterate what others have said - British corner shop is excellent and pretty prompt on deliveries. Not cheap, but usually a little cheaper than any local shops. I do recommend finding a World Market if you have them near you. They have an international section which is pretty good, but usually focused on chocolate etc.
My wife found Parkers though (https://parkersbritishinstitution.com/) and well worth a look too. They claim to be authentic, and largely they are. Again, pretty prompt delivery and can recommend some stuff from them.
Oddly, its the weird stuff that can be expensive / cheap - Ribena for example, found its cheaper buying in bulk from Amazon! Weird. So do check out places and dont pay the sky high prices.
Finally, take a look locally though - major metro areas almost always will have an international supermarket somewhere. Most will have a UK selection, and can be worth taking a look. And you might even find a British shop somewhere around you. There are a few around me, but in NorCal, there is a pretty large ex-pat population anyway. Have fun though - go hunting for stuff and get around in the local area, you be surprised as to what you can get and from where!

t. Branston Pickle = Walmart , luckily have a British chef in the city who makes pies/pasties but nowadays make our own . Cheese , again Walmart for black bomber or rockstar imported from Wales , previously living in Cheddar that hurts but needs must lol. Oxo beef stock cubes can be found in the odd Brit shop , sachets are useless , get ours brought over by family/friends .
