In my experience of eBay, you will get more bids if the auction states the postage costs. A lot of people have been caught out (including me) in the past when the postage is stated as "at cost" and that cost then turns out to be 10x what the item sold for. eBay allows you to add "reasonable" packaging costs to the postage but NOT other things like PayPal fees.

www.parcel2go.com are very cheap, weight limit of 35kg but there is a volume limit which is a bugger. It sounds to me like it will be too large for most couriers to deliver.

To give you an idea, if you use a firm like Mailboxes Etc to arrange the delivery then they'll charge you £12.99 for a 10kg parcel so long as you drop it off at the branch. If you want them to arrange it to be collected from you and then delivered to the recipient then you double it. They use whichever courier is cheapest for that particular delivery, so sometimes it's UPS, sometimes DHL, you get the idea. They have accounts at all the major couriers so can usually get a better deal than if you go direct to the courier.
I recently arranged for a 20kg package to be collected from a seller and delivered to me and it cost £32 which I don't reckon is too terrible. This included the surcharge for them collecting it from the sender rather than him taking it to a depot.
For eBay it is acceptable to add a bit for packaging and your time, but not to the extent that you are seen to be profiting from the postage (so don't add your time at charge-out rates, tonker

I sold a set of speakers and stands which weighed in at 35kg via E-bay a few months ago. Charged £30 for p&p and sent them via Securicor/Omega, they took the payment and booking over the phone (I'd roughly weighed them using bathroom scales) and collected from my house the next day.
From my experience I'd recommend them and would certainly use them again.

, it was the first courier outside the DHL / UPS lot that came to mind. From the buyer's point of view, Royal Mail is the best option because if you're not in, you can go and pick it up locally. Certainly if City Link fail to deliver, you would have a fair old trek to get to one of their depots to get your stuff.
Of course, if you're the sender... do you care?

I don't think they ask you to sign anything when they collect but it'd be best to phone them and ask as otherwise "it was gone when we went to pick it up sir, honestly..."
Can you not leave it with neighbours and get them to collect it from there?
Parcel2go are actually DHL.
