Just noticed the other day the there is a dark line extending from the top of my tv up the wall (it's wall mounted) it's kind of like if you have a candle too close to the wall it can leave a soot mark
Tv seems to be working ok 55q9fn although if I have it on one of the picture modes it does seem to emit a high pitched whine could describe it as coil wine Ike on some graphics cards etc but if I move it to one of the other presets it's fine. It is in an external wall and there is a flue behind it but it's not connected to the roof any more but it is open in the loft

Dust? Could be the outlet of a fan blowing dust up the wall.

I don't think it's damp but no moisture detector to prove it

There isn't a fan in it, it has the electronics in a separate box connected by fiber cable

It could be dust but it's been up for a few years and I've only just noticed it after getting back off holiday

I was starting to get concerned by the new noise that had recently started now this. Maybe I'm just after a new tv subconsciously

I'm on chat with Samsung support. They aren't the the best saying they can't see an issue with the screen no matter how often I told them the mark is on the wall not the tv wink and they couldn't see the whine either I said I'm not surprised you can't see a sound in a picture!

Is there a cable in the wall there? I’ve seen that happen before when a cable is bodged and basically sealed into the plasterboard with filler.

Not sure if it was heat causing the marks or if it was airborne dust etc being attracted to some kind of static/mangetism from the cable

Nope cables are all below it non in the wall tvs been there since may 2019

It's got warranty till may 24 so will try them with the whining noise. Half tempted to take back off but that will screw me for warrantyif it is a bit fubar

Have you tried giving it a wipe?

It could just be where the heat is rising and attracting dust on to the wall

I get exactly the same thing just above radiators and a high power pc, I'd agree with VEX.

I think it’s just to do with heat and dust. I have something similar above my hot water timer. Actually need to get round to finish painting….

After some building work in our main living room, the big radiator had exactlythe same.
Damp cloth took it away.
Just dust/muck.
It took me 30 seconds, and as if by Magic-Gone!
(Yes me, the wife thought we needed a decorator). woohoo
