Best Large TV for home theatre?
Discussion
Looking for some recommendations from the more techie corner of PH please!
After relocating the main living area to a new extension, I’m taking the opportunity to re-purpose my old living room as a designated home cinema.
The room is around 4.2m x 3m and will have dark walls and ceiling and a blackout blind for the window. We will be viewing from around 2.5 - 3m away.
It’s mainly for sport (F1) and movies/ box sets.
Looking for the best compromise between price/ size and quality. Ideally I’d like an 85”, 75” at the smallest.
Bear in mind we currently have a 50” LCD Samsung from about 10 years ago, and I can’t see anything wrong with it.. so I’m not used to a top of the line Viewing experience!
Any recommendations? Looking at a budget of £2k.. but the cheaper the better!

Why not a projector? We have one in our living room that only ever really gets used for F1 and films. We've had it for 8 years now and because it doesn't get used every day it still blows me away everytime I watch it. I think ours is about 110 inches with a 1080p projector and viewed from about 5 metre distance. It's a short throw projector so it's easy enough to reduce the size of the screen if sitting closer...

They’re just not for me. I’m sure they’re probably the right choice for a cinema room, but I want a Crisp rich picture with the blinds open or closed. I’ve seen a few projectors in the flesh and I’m not sold.Gassing Station | Home Cinema & Hi-Fi | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
