I know they're not giving much away in these videos, but its nice to see them doing this for something that is maybe going to be a bit of a niche product, albeit popular amongst us petrolheads.

Has there been any release date rumoured yet?

I would be very interested in the M3, but decided on an X3M instead (again again), which I may live to regret.

The video is nice and gives enough insights, but find the whole "skunkwork project" vibe very contrived. This was a factory commercial decision, and not like the old Z3M Coupe that indeed was a true skunkwork project

Everyone has lost interest on the General Gassing page, so I guess this is the best place to continue the discussion.

This is one of the last great combustion engine cars, and a keeper as a decade long smoker, just like my old E39 M5 was, and more recently my Cayenne V8 diesel.

I've placed an order with the following spec;

M3 Estate X Drive G81
Portimao Blue metallic
19"/20" Bicolour Black Double-spoke style 826 M forged alloy wheels
Kyalami Orange and Black Bicolour extended Merino leather
Comfort Pack
M Pro Pack
Visibility Pack
Parking Assistant Plus

Got a 3% discount, which I was reasonably happy with. I could see them going all Porsche and saying no discount, but there's no chance of the big pre-pandemic discounts. £90130, which is an astonishing amount for a 3er. VED rates still not known, so that's additional and unknown at present.

The order is on SA3, but can't be placed with the factory until 16th September, the line starts up in November. It's a case of hurry up and wait now.

I was fixed on this spec, as I think the orange & black interior looks super sharp. Portimao Blue is a safe choice, and nicer than the Individual Tanzanite doom blue.

I was struck by the Daytona Violet on the one at FOS. I missed out on a Merlin Purple RS6 about a decade ago, and may need to go purple. Obvs then would need to change the interior, as there'd be too many colours in all that!

Very jealous. Saw some of these at FOS, in what looked like a Nardo Grey - amazing.

Love that Daytona Purple! Be bold!

Wish I had the cash to go for the touring.

Ultimate dream spec would have been Macao Blue individual with Full Silverstone interior and bucket seats.

However, given any reasonably large discount to make it affordable is not forthcoming, even through UK Forces scheme, I have ordered an M4 xDrive Comp in a standard colour instead.

Congrats on your purchase, it will no doubt be an agonising wait and looking forward to your collection and pics if poss.

What does SA3 mean as I have that on my order form?

is the configurator up now? I searched and could only find articles for the visualizer but no links!

I don't think so. I built a spec based on saloon options, then the dealer sent me this;

https://its-juice-2.foleon.com/explore-bmw/discove...

From there they sent a new vehicle quotation based on my spec and it came with a URL for the config;

https://webfrontend.evecp.bmw.cloud/eXXXXXX.

This is the SA3 utility that BMW use, the filename was SA3XXXXXX. I think they then submit the order based on this, which is why one of the posters above asked about SA3.

Everything seems to be based around that SA3XXXXXX number.

Oh yeah..... The visualiser.. only just found this after multiple BMs....

https://discover.bmw.co.uk/iframes/individual-visu...

Daytona Violet doesn't show up in the car config options, just in the visualiser, but is the same for other models too, i.e. omitted.

I wonder how you order these individual colours. I think I'll be updating my order....

The Merlin Purple RS6 I never got.

Went black instead.

Harks back to the most popular colour for the E34 M5 Touring, Daytona Violet.

I put my deposit down on the m3 Touring in Aug’19 to get the first allocated build at my dealer. Bought a new M4 in June last year and specd it in Dravit Grey and Orange full leather. Lovely spec. Now the time has come to get the Touring I don’t want to replicate the spec again but hard to find better.

Have ordered the Touring with an individual colour palette option. After going through them all, decided the orange interior has to remain, so that dictates the exterior colour. Have decided Oxide Grey, after going through ideas of Ruby Black and BRG.

Going Oxide, Ultimate pack, BI colour alloys and blue callipers. Also the mandatory £300 on the 50th anniversary badge set.

Delivery est as 1st Dec. Not got round to talking discount with the dealer yet, they are suggesting nothing available so interesting to see 3% mentioned which seems fair.

However will be hard to let the M4 go!

Deposit in, no other news from dealer yet.

I’d love to go Individual if that’s an option.

I believe orders can be placed on the system now but not formally accepted by BMW UK/Factory until the Sept date. Car is available on a dealer configurator.

I have also put my ‘order’ in, formally gets put in the system in September. I was told that selecting individual paint options would push back delivery to the point they would not give me a delivery date. Does anyone have experience of this?

I used to have a 2016 F82 M4 which I ordered new in San Marino Blue Individual. My understanding is they ‘batch’ orders for individual colours- ie wait until they get a certain number before booking the production slot. In my case it also affected the price I was charged- which was only £500 extra as I was tagged on to a relatively large batch. Even so it added a couple of months to the delivery time.
