can anyone help with Service lights problem?
Discussion
I have an E39 BMW 535 Sport Year 2000.
Having had it serviced last week the garage could not reset the service lights indicator bar, they tried it on 2 different computer tools and then manually but it is stuck on 1 green bar left on. I have taken the whole unit out this morning to check it, all the connections are fine there is nothing lose in there and have also tried a little contact spray but all to no avail, has anyone else had this problem? is it new dash time?
Thanks
Wilko

I got this information off another board (US M5 Board)sometime back. I've never used it or tried it but if you are willing to have a go follow these instructions :
Get in the car, close the door, buckle the seatbelt.
Push in the clutch pedal and hold it to the floor
Press the left hand dash button (the one that resets your odometer) and hold it down
Put the ignition key in the key slot, and turn it gently (very gently) until the dashboard lights come on - the key will not click - if it clicks you've gone too far and you have to start again. Hold the key in this position. In five seconds or so, the dash will display "SIA" and some other characters. Do not proceed until this happens.
Release the dash button (and only the dashboard button) and then press and hold it again. In another 5 seconds or so the display should begin to flash "RESET?" Do not proceed until this happens.
Release the dash button and push it again to confirm. You won't need to hold it - the display should change immediately and your service indicator will display five green LED's.

have tried all the tools and the garage use the same stuff BMW do. Have even tried the maual overide, i.e paper clip in the relevant ports.
Haven't tried that other thing though but i notice it sayd hold clutch in - mines an auto. will give it a go though just leaving it in Park. worth a try I guess!
Cheers
