Whilst cleaning and reseting my plugs last night I was slightly suprised to find that they were B8ECS's and not B7ECS as normally fitted .
Questions -
Whats the difference between the two?
Should I continue with them?
Should I change them back to B7ECS's?
I've set them at 0.85 as i couldn't find a definitive setting either 0.8 or 0.9 being quoted, whats best?
In addition i noticed that the plugs at the extremes of the block i.e. plugs 1, 2, 7 & 8 seemed more sooty than the ones on the inside of the block, is this because it's 'cooler' at the edges of the block?
Thanks in advance.

Yes but Harry your engine is the Speed Eight version that uses the mythical rounded wedge plugs that are on the export ban list because they are the same shape as a nuclear detonator. If the car is ticking, run away very quickly...
I don't know. I would have to look it up in the I Spy book of Spark Plugs... They are either harder or softer though.

This *may* help as the article uses the B7 ECS as an example.
So the B8 *is likely* to be colder if your engine requires a cooler plug.

Late as usual,
NGK numbers are the opposite of most other makes i believe, ie the higher the number the cooler.
B7 ECS are normally the best, you can use 6 but haven't heard of 8s being used. I'm not saying don't use them, just that i have no knowledge orf them being used,
Tim.

Thanx for the advice I think I’ll fit the 7's then, might just hang onto the 8's though just in case.
I'll be careful Steve when I take them out so as I don't start a nuclear reaction.
I got given the number of NGK tech support earlier, I may just ring them tomorrow out of curiosity to see what they say anyway.

BTW re a previous thread the 'C' definately stands for copper in the 'ECS' part.
