It just occured to me , and has probably been covered somewhere else ,but ....

If you have your F1 car setup at the right height to give maximum balance/grip/downforce , and any lower will choke the diffuser at some point , and you have the hardest springs on it you can run, without losing too much grip due to the tyres not following the surface ,..

What happens when you stick in 100 kg of fuel ?

Does your car then go into a "cars too low vibrathon" , or, if you make it high enough to work , as the fuel gets used , and the car gets lighter , the ride height rises and you loose oodles of down force because the skirt is too far from the road ,and it's all gone a bit torrey canyon .?

Also , depending on the consumption of different engines, this would affect different cars at different times ...so making one car faster than another , but at different lap points in the race . and the person that saves most fuel may then have the faster car ?

just fun .

Just one more reason why they should have introduced active suspension with these regs.

Running an optimum floor throughout the race is something that would have really bunched the teams for a greater duration.

Opening DRS will inevitably introduce similar problems. Meanwhile flex-skirts provide an illegal movable aero device, until they start to Police them.

Good point on the drs effect too john , i had not included than in my scenario ..

Although i suppose drs would alleviate the problem , allowing the car to rise due to less rear DF , however suddenly shutting it , and momentarily bringing the car down into porpoise land may set up a oscillation even if the car would have been ok steady state .

Also good point on the flex floor ,i have not noticed any talk about policing that , and i did notice mercedes front wing middle section moving a lot maybe an inch downwards on the car cam during testing going down the straight . i imagine there are a few blank pages to be filled in the rule book by the end of the year .

Maybe everything will stiffen up for the first race ...
