They said that a few years ago. I heard it on the news on a BBC station but I can't remember which. They said Camelot had lost it and Richard Branson must be the one who was going to get it because he was the only other one in the running for it. Then nothing at all changed and they just carried on as normal.

Well someone has a hefty bung in their back pocket off the back of that. It’s just how the world works nowadays.

I hope they said to Camelot when announcing the results....."It could be you", "but it is not it is Alywin".

I thought the margins (total profit fractions of a percent) were ridiculously small on these sort of enterprises, it is the huge turnover is the attraction? I did suggest to my Mum she should have bid as it'd probably be cheaper for her than all those lucky dips from every random nightly draw she gives me, when she has saved about two months worth up "to go down the post office and check if I've won and buy me some Lamberts and get me pension whilst you are there". I love visiting 1980s Yorkshire to see me Mum.

The CEO of Camelot took home the thick end of £4m last year. For running a business with zero competition. About time it had a shake up

They are going to make the ticket cheaper and give away more money. Seems a bit like a government promise.

Well I wouldn't say that it has zero competition, there is no end of betting shops around, at least prepandemic. Online too.

Camelot have just been fined £3.15m for failures of their app on three separate times which included not telling winners they have won.

The fine will go into the "good causes" pot.
