Hi guys,

Hoping to get a bit of advice here - Me and my girlfriend are going to the Silverstone GP this year and we have general admission tickets for the Sunday.

What's everyone's best tips for getting the most out of the day? I've seen horror stories about people not being able to see the track etc... is it really that bad?

We wouldn't mind sitting up a bit further away, as long as we had a view of the track and maybe a screen if possible.

Where's best to sit to avoid the hustle and bustle of the crowds? And any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

We went in 2019 with GA tickets.

Club / Vale corners were our favorite spots. Cars going slowly enough to actually see them and then turning the corner for start / finish straight. Also, right outside the pit entrance lane.

Go early and get your spot on the hill.

Get there early to claim your place trackside, or as you have said, you will be so far back, you will just see the backs of people's heads. You also need to be able to see a screen, or a least have the commentary on the radio, or follow it on your phone, otherwise, after pit-stops, it is difficult to tell who is really in front of whom.

Do you have any idea of which part of the circuit you want to watch from? How are you getting to the circuit, thus which gate will you arrive at, as it can be a long walk around the outside of the circuit to get to where you want to be. Are you just happy to watch the race, or are you interested in any of the off-track activity in the FanZone?

Thanks - Seems like this is our best option!

Yeah I've heard of the radios. Seems like a must have.

Re. what part of the circuit, as the other poster mentioned, Vale seems like a good option. I've heard it's banked so even if you're a bit further back it doesn't matter too much. What's the best gate for Vale?

Happy just to watch the race, my girlfriend is recovering from back surgery (she can walk fine and will be fine for the day) but obviously we don't want to be getting pushed about or walking 10 miles in the day.

How are you going to get to Silverstone? What is your transport plan?

Take a radio for 5 live. Phone reception can be tricky for streaming when everyone is doing it (or it was a few years ago)

You don’t really need them these days, but I still take a pair of ear defenders with a built-in radio to race meetings with a live commentary. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nordstrand-Defenders-Prot... £35 well spent, in the context of the weekend.

Also, get the £2.99/month live timing subscription for the F1 app. It wil be 20-30s lagged behind the live action, but useful around the pit stops and for spotting the gaps that are closing. Unless you’re in hospitality, you won’t see a timing screen at the circuit.
