Anyone done/have a view of the PEC Precision day?
Been given an "chose a driving experience" gift. Enjoyed my complementary PEC session, so seems like a natural step. Not aiming on doing lots of sessions/track day, so want something fun as much as tuition, but good value/driving time.
Or, as an alternative something like Palmersport, or anything else?

I’ve done the Precision Day a couple of times…you can do it in your car or hire on on there’s to do it in. There are a lot less cars on track on a Precision Day so you get a lot more useful seat time….and you get to do a couple of sessions on the main circuit as well. I thought it was an excellent day.
I’ve had the priveledge of doing both too …
I learned at both. My two cents?
If you want to experience downforce, do Palmer. Wider range manufacturers of cars too.
If you want to learn in your own car; do Porsche. The international circuit is fast. Great challenging day out.
I loved both. No wrong answers here.

As a purely fun day, it's pretty hard to beat palmersport. The PEC day might be more useful as a 'instruction' type day. Depends on what you're after really....
That was my thought - purely for fun go for Palmersport - but if you want to learn about your car and improve your skills than PEC might be better?P-G said:

I read on the Palmer website that it was max 5 teams of 15 guests. Does this mean quite a bit of watching due to vehicle sharing?

Oddly relevant thread as I had just been searching the Precision day at the weekend.
If you factor in not taking your own car, as in the Palmersport day, I suspect the PEC Precision comes out considerably more expensive. Does anyone know the rough cost of hiring a car for the Precision day?

Yep, I'm booked in for a Precision course in my 718 GT4 this year but the email I received also had car hire costs. They're eye watering...

There is a bit of waiting (easily mitigated by going with a couple of friends) but as mentioned, you cycle through different sets of cars/circuits and there is plenty of seat time over the day. That's cost for the day right? Or are we talking Precision day cost + their car rental cost? Either way, the Palmersport one is very well priced in comparison.I guess it comes down to consumables and desire to take your own car, versus the worry-free nature of ragging one of theirs.
Couple of years ago, pre Covid, I did a day in one of PEC’s 718s Caymans. It was mid summer and a clear hot day.
The tyres, new at the start, were completely gone by the end.
Couldn’t attest to the brake condition at the end of the day, but must have been significant wear.
Also got through quite a lot of fuel. Economy not great on a circuit.
And there’s the risk of putting it onto a barrier.
PEC car in reality not outrageously expensive if it’s a nice hot day.

That's cost for the day including the cars listed, versus using your own car at £760.

For me, in a 718 GT4, it's £1340 to use their car for the day. Consumables will be about the same as a track day so way cheaper to use my own car and that's the whole point - I want a full day's training in my own car set up to my preferences.

Base Cayman on road tyres? Yep it'll wear stuff out quickly. A GT car, designed for track use of track rubber, less so.The tyres, new at the start, were completely gone by the end.
