Builder wanted in the Farnborough area

Any builders/handymen on here who work in the farnborough area? Or anyone that someone can recommend?

I currently have a seperate bathroom/toilet and I'm interested in getting a quote from someone to knock the partition wall between them down, and fill in one of the doorways.

It's not structural. Taking it out wouldn't be a problem, its just hte making it look nice afterwards problem... Never tied to plaster (though been plastered many times ) so don't want it looking rubbish...

I would be inclined to do all the work except the finishing work,try a plasterer and chippy for 2nd fixing but be aware some are unreliable,i used to be in the building trade...

Problem is if he turns up to give me a quote in his Tuscan, I may decide that a Tuscan looks perfect outside my flat and buy one...

Sorry for the hijack, but I have a related query...

A little while ago, one of my bookshelves fell out of the plasterboard wall. I now have two holes in the wall (1/2" diameter) and cracked and pulled plaster around each of them (about 6" in diameter).

Question is: how do I go about getting it sorted? I'm guessing I'm just going to have to rip the cracked plaster off the wall and get the holes plastered over.

However, I can't plaster a minor graze, let alone two gaping holes with nothing but wall cavity behind them.

I guess it's probably a 5 minute job for a plasterer and so not really worth a their while making a trip out to do it...

With holes that large if you just fill it it will always show,so you are better of taking plasterboard out to where it fixes to wood frame,if this is too large an area then go either side of hole till you find an upright timber,then cut a horizontal line above and below hole till you are left with a square or oblong hole put in 2 horizontal pieces of timber nailed to verticals and then cut P/board to size of hole,fix with galvanised nails and skim with finish.

If you make note of where the holes for the shelf went then while you are at it you can fix a horizontal timber in that are to take the shelf fixing.
