I’ve just bought this car which is in great condition & fairly low mileage for a 2009. But it wasn’t till I’d left the car dealer & was driving home that I noticed that the rear spoiler wasn’t rising & lowering as it should do. On closer inspection it became apparent that the wing on this car is a fixed one.
The dealer claims it’s part of the aero kit. Was just wondering if anybody could enlighten me on this.

Difficult to see from that photo angle. Can you post more pics and the option codes on the car?

The struts fail with age so it could be they have failed. Can you see the strut actuators from inside the boot lid

The dealers correct, same as the 996 Aerokit rear spoiler - its fixed. One less thing to go wrong, as pointed out the struts fail.

Agree. As a 996TT owner I can confirm it's a bullet dodged.

Looks like the genuine article. The front splitter should be different also - slightly more protruding than normal.

Its a nice rare option and makes the turbo look even better in my opinion (but I’m biased)

I have a rear decklid in black with the normal electric spoiler if you like. PM me happy to do a deal for £600 and or even swap. I like the fixed spoiler better. Mine goes up at 75mph.

That looks like my old car albeit i could be mistaken, traded it in back in 2016 for a 991.1 TTS at Edinburgh OPC.

I also have a 1.5, no aerokit AFAIK. The rear spoiler is a lifty-uppy model, and looks flatter on top than yours and doesn't protrude so far back. The front splitter is vertically flat to the rest of the front, it doesn't have the protruding beak of yours.

Doesn't mean it's not genuine. What are the build codes on the body sticker?

It was just the next evolution of an already brilliant car. The only thing I didn’t like on the 997TT was the terribly short 1st gear, other than that I regret selling it as it would have been pretty much free motoring for the last 5 years smile

I purchased your car from Sutton Coldfield OPC with about 12k on the clock and traded it 4.5 years later at 36k IIRC, check your Service book to see if it was serviced by Porsche Solihul between 2012 & 2016

The wheels were refurbed by Exel not long before I traded it

Yes, its definitely your old car. 1st gear indeed very tricky, but the manual gearbox paired with that engine just adds so much character - iffy 1st, followed by a shift to 2nd and then 3rd with the mountain of power/torque/traction each shift up is just incredible.

Sadly, I sold it in 2020 after 3 years of great experiences, including driving it to Florence, Italy.
Great, great car.

Wow!
Great to see it again to be honest. Who’s the lucky new owner? On here??

Seeing it again did make me do a quick search on OPC network to see what’s available in regards to the 997TT, but alas nothing that is similar.
