I really want to try one but know it would be dangerous as I would have to get one or at least have one put in my Exige when it becomes available as an option (which may not be too far away if you believe the gossip)

Were you on road or track?

They do sound so cool but 44k for an Exige, I just can't see it. Mind you as Dave said I could always buy an exige and then just add the upgrade

thought they were all sold?

if you think a 240R is quick, you want to try a Honda powered 300R

On the road, but I'll be on track at Brands with it tomorrow. The 6,000rpm rev limiter to protect the engine when cold is a little tardy to clear off but when it does, the thing just flies. It feels properly, scarily quick and makes a nonsense of all those claims that the 240R isn't making the figures. That hole in the torque curve just before the VVTi kicks in on the NA car has just been obliterated. I wish I was taking it to the Ring instead of down the road to Kent.

It's a yellow LHD model and the pedal offset isn't so clever though which makes heel and toeing pretty tough (usual Exige brake pedal issues nothwithstanding).

Murray's Exige day, free for their recent Exige clients and future Exigers. Full backing from factory.
Think they are hoping to kick start their sc and Ohlin sales

Is it the press car you've been out in then? I had my driver training in that. The left hand drive coupled with the long brake travel meant I kept making a pig's ear of the heel and toeing so I left it and started concentrating on the fact that I needed to be braking bloody hard..

Oh yeah, believe it !! Drove one a little while ago (early prototype). Halleleujah, it was wonderful. I was never keen on the "6000rpm and lets get going thing" and this supercharger just changes everything. It is a wonderful feeling to have more of a linear power delivery. This was before some of the tweaking was done,so it may be even better now. It certainly brought a smile to my face and I'm not that great a driver. Was even better in the hands of a talented driver !!.

Yep. You and me both. Unfortunately, as I discovered at Brands today, I can't fit in the thing when I'm wearing a helmet. I'm not freakishly tall ( 6'4" ) either.

The Chapman philosophy of lightness seems to have gone out of the window. Could someone explain to me what the point of the rear view mirror in the 240R is? There's half of a kilo that could be junked straight away, improving visibility in the process...

Took mine straight off as soon as I got it. It's bloody massive as well when you see it out of the car. Can't get the ball socket thing off the windscreen though...

Had a few laps around Hethel last month in the black test 240R. OMG! Thought we were gonna die! The speeds into the corners were huuuuuuuge

The sound is awesome, a angry growl mixed in with a wailing supercharger.....

My Dad is getting his delivered next week at Shelsley, a yellow one i think, with a stage 2 exhaust and a few extras hes bought in the far east, rearwards facing camera, different steering wheel and few others.

See you all at shelsley!!!!

Max, is it a definite your dad will be picking his up at Shelsey? I'm probably driving down in mine but would be very interested to check out the Stage 2 as it's something I'm considering.

Cheers

Dear Nick,

I know hes trying his best to get them to bring it on the same transport as this new Circuit car they're bringing, so he can have it for this Shelsley weekend, originally he was due to pick it up from Leicester on Monday the 22nd.

Will you be there on the first day on Friday?
We shall be down there all weekend as we only live a few fields away from the hillclimb.

Did you get chassis number 1? I think Dad's got 30.

If they are rushed to get it for Shelsley they might not have had time to get all the other parts onto it: Stage 2 exhaust, electronics etc. We shall see.

laters, Max

Hi Max

I've got #1. I hope your dad gets his this weekend. I'd be surprised though if they've got 30 out already (that would also mean they are sending out some of the European cars now as well). Hope I'm wrong!

Cheers

If you're down this way on friday, let me know.

We've got a drinks thing at the house, everyone from Lotus will be here, including other car-mad friends. You should come.
