We're looking to replace our ancient Accord Tourer, despite now being almost 19 years old it's been almost faultless over the last 6 years - couple of suspension bushes and that's it.
Main criteria are that it's decent to drive (we live in rural Aberdeenshire), has plenty of space and that it's reliable. Budget 11k tops, but ideally less if I can.
Anyone had any experience? Something along these lines.

For that money you could have a 2014 Octavia with lower miles

Good all-rounders, they look pretty good, have a good spec as standard and are generally reliable (petrol engine particularly). I have had a few diesel versions and would have another, the 2015 onwards mildly facelifted cars are worth finding if possible as they have DAB and slightly better interior but I guess would be tough to find in budget , they’re pretty scarce as it is.
I'd really rather avoid German cars - our ancient and unloved Honda has been significantly more reliable than any of the much newer Mercs, Audis, BMWs or Vws that I've owned.
The thought of plodding around in an Octavia Tdi also fills me with dread haha - I had one as a hire car and hated it! Stodgy wallowy chassis with an engine like a cement mixer.

The 2.2 isn't most reliable, DPF issues, timing chain issues etc, it mainly comes from the chain (oil pump) going slack and starving the engine. It doesn't help if both oil change lights are not reset as it will stop the dpf carrying out a regen. 2016 onwards they seem to be a lot better.

That's fair enough, I've had two German cars and they have been the most unreliable cars I've owned. So I can see your point. Has anyone driven the 2.0 petrol? I'm guessing it will probably feel similar to our 2.0 Accord - slightly flat at low revs but quick enough if you're willing to use the gearbox.
The claimed mpg figures seem wildly optimistic (50+ combined!) but hopefully 35 should be achievable on general rural running around.

Bought my wife a 2019 MY one 18 months ago. She's a big fan of it and it's a decent enough drive. We have the 2.5 GT sport nav and it's very well spec'd. Seems to average 33-34MPG no matter how we drive it. Front sensors for things like the adaptive cruise etc seem very sensitive so need to keep the thing clean, which is a little frustrating. Agree with the poster above who said the paint is a bit thin, we have the lovely metallic red which otherwise looks great.
I've got a 2013 one on 165k now and it feels brand new. 3 years I've had it and it only needed a battery and servicing. I've not encountered these supposed terminal failures with oil starvation or DPFs and due to WFH, mine covers barely any miles. It rides well, handles nicely, it isn't fast but it's fast enough, quiet, reliable and good looking. The Australian voice on the sat nav is quite funny, too.
If I have any criticisms, the seats are a bit firm for my liking but are otherwise excellent and with all the safety garbage turned on or off, the dash lights up like a Christmas tree. I think my record was 21 lights on the dash at once by turning various things off and on. Oh, I didn't get radar cruise and the speed limiter either. Otherwise though, fantastic car. I get a genuine 50+MPG on a run for holidays etc and even get about 40 round town. I think the facelift looks better outside but prefer the pre-facelift inside. I really don't like the screens looking like a piece of toast has popped out of the dashboard.

The one in the OP is a petrol.The oil pump chain isn't the cause of the issue by the way.. See my woes here....

It was on the one we had in, the main chain was fine, the oil pump chain had stretched. To be honest its not a difficult job to do the chains on these.The oil pump chain isn't the cause of the issue by the way.. See my woes here....
