Finally ready to spray my mini. But I have a dilemma as to where to spray it. It is currently raised off the floor in my back hard standing. I'm contemplating leaving it there for spray.
Can I construct a controlled spray environment if I erect a gazebo and make it air tight. Cover the floor to eliminate dust and then somehow figure how to dispel the fumes and air??
It has no mot so moving it will be a pain. I know its not ideal but I think it could be done. Thing is, I won't do it if I'll get a crappy spray job.
Any ideas??

Are you using cellulose paint?
Painting outside is never a good idea as, at this time of uear you get bugs on the wet paint. Even though I have a really big compressor, a large double-bay workshop at home and an excellent gun, I still usually get the painting done by my friendly expert. My thinking is that if I hae to keep rubbing down to get rid of runs, buits and pieces, bugs, etc, I might as well let someone else paint it in 2-pack and have a really good finish. I know it costs money, but the end result is so much better. I don't mind spraying, say, a front wing if I bend one on a rally, or the sills, or a bonnet and boot lid, but a complete car is a lot of work.
Find a local friendly paint sprayer and agree a price for a ready-to-paint car. Take it there on a trailer.

hull (and local area) phoneboxes where (and are) old english white - hull was the only city to have its own independant phone company (kingston communications) and enjoyed free calls after 6pm (i think)for years before bt had to buck its ideas up and start offering similar deals, even now they do some great deals on calls and broadband.

The phoneboxes were old english white which funnily enough is the colour I'm spraying my car. Kingston communications does still supply hull and offers local calls for 5.5p for as long as you want. The bridge is lovely and long and picturesque.......However, we are divulging a tad!!

ive painted loads of cars with two pack.
ive done them in garages and outside. i always wear a good mask. obviously breathing the fumes is bad for you and the paint is carcogenic (?) but someone 'in the trade' pointed out to me years ago that if 2 pack was as bad as a lot of people make it out to be it would be classed as a chemical weapon!!
i think its one of those things that as long as you use common sense with its fine.
and boy, its so easy to get a good finish! (though, before 'cone' gets involved, i would like to point out that trying to paint a car with two pack in cold weather is a no no! and its possible to make a real mess of it!)

Yep they have isocyanates in them. Well actually it's the hardener that has it in it. So you can theoretcially spray the base coat but when you do the clearcoat then you'll have issues.
I did hear somewhere that after a certain time (possibly 2008) there will be more laws regarding spraying and that all paints will have to be water based. Although I'm not sure how true all of this is.
BMW did do a waterbased paint on their cars for a while but withdrew it pretty quickly dues to it being suceptible the atmosphere.

I've sprayed a number of vehicles in celly, a few years ago, got a reasonable finish although not "factory shiny". Now ready to do the clubby, do I continue in celly or try 2pack, I have seen the finish it can get but would have to buy a mask (£200?) and haven't any ideas as to the mix ratios etc. How long does it take for 2pac to air harden (ie before flies and dust don't stick etc?)
