Time attack Uk belt regulations

Been reading the 2021 time attack uk regs today as a possible platform for a Tey out later this year/next year. What I found unusual though was rhe regulations say for the lower devision (club categories) you require a 4 point harness but a roll cage is only recommended. I always thought a harness without a cage means you've just decreased the safety or a vehicle as now you are fixed in place in the even of the roll, if the roof caves in then your in deep trouble as opposed to a oem 3 point where you are not fixed and will move around in the even of a roll (not a great situation still but not nearly as bad). Thoughts? Maybe my logic and what I've been told before is incorrect...

I can see that in a roll over situation a 3 point may be better, but in your typical car into barrier accident (remaining the right way up) a properly worn, tight 4 point and competition seat would probably be best. A 4 point also allows an FHR to be worn. The regs are a minimum requirement, so you can always go for a cage, 6 point and plumbed in extinguisher if you wish. Having ruined a number of good road cars in the past with a full cage I'll take my chances for this type of event and track days.
This kind of event seems generally safer than some track days I've participated in. Competitors seem to have better awareness and skill levels, number of cars on track are less, fellow drivers actively get out of the way if they're not on a hot lap and should the worst happen there are more Marshals, rescue and doctors.
I always have and always will use a 6 point when racing however.

I don’t follow that logic to be honest. What I will say is I wouldn’t want to do any competitive driving on track with other vehicles without a roll cage, whether the rules say you can or not.
