Hard a long drive this weekend and weather been terrible so fitted hardtop, hasn't been on since car colected from dealer four months ago. Creaks like bl**dy mad! Really bad, tightened bolts loosened bolts, nothing made any difference. At low speed over tiny bumps in road its so annoying. Anyone any suggestions? Think dealer would assist or just TADTS?
every car i've had that's had a hard top has been the same.
it's the bolts moving in the pockets in most cases - try a dab of silicon seal in each little pocket then put the roof on. the silicon should form a little barrier aroudn the bolts and stop them making contact with the body of the car - that should stop the squeeking.
incidentally i don't have a hard top with my elise so this is hypothetical but it worked a treat on my mr2 and mx5.
