Hi folks, I have been offered a Panasonic TX-P46Z1 46", which looks to date from 2009 if the stickers on the back are accurate, (or could that be build date??), in barely used/as new condition. I'm not that up on products like this, but a quick search turned up that this was a £5000 TV back in the day!!!

Will this TV still perform against the others these days, or should I pass it by? It would likely end up in the spare room for guests or when I am watching some sporting event away from the wife. biggrin

I'm currently using my friends old TX-P46GT30, and the image is still bloody amazing, and knocks spots off the supposed 4K Samsung LED thing in the living room!

Only criticism I have with it, is i haven't sussed the 3D settings that work the best for me wobble

Depends how much you are getting it for.

I wasn't a fan of the black bars down the sides between the speakers makes it look smaller.

Any Panny plasma from the VT/GT30 onwards should beat it in terms of PQ or get a 50" Pioneer Kuro off eBay, they are around the £200 mark.

I’m getting it for free. I just didn’t want to be doing someone a favour, saving them a run to the tip! biggrin

Agreed though on the black lines and speakers, they do make it look smaller.

My concerns would be A) power consumption and B) HDMI/HDCP version compatibilities which might cause grief with modern sources attached.

I'm sure it'll have great picture quality though.
