I know its boring but I got offered some 17" wheels with brand new Toyo's off a Griff today at the right price.

Question
What wheel width will I get away with on the S3, just to save me some time and energy.

Standard is 7", I haven't tried it myself but I've been told that 7.5" won't fit on the rear unless you have the S4/V8S disc brake hubs. This assumes standard offset - you could probably use a lower inset (or add a spacer) to clear the trailing arm but on mine there's precious little clearance on the outside so I'm not sure you would get away with it.

Drop "Kentish" a line as i believe he fitted 17" to his S.I believe he used a Peugout mount same PCD but an ET of 18 rather than Fords ET of 35 ish

Same here Derek. Mine are Peugeot fitment 17" with 18 ET. I initially had 225's fitted but this caught the arches under heavy cornering. Before the new springs .

I would not recommend the Ford ET as they would sit a long way inside the arches. I guess you amy get away with 7 1/2s but I am not sure if you would see any benefit.

With decent suspension and 18ET I think you could safely use 215s.

Thanks guys, I'm not sure I'm any the wiser though.
These wheels are off a Griff and I think they have a spacer but not sure. Steve I'll have another look at them on Tuesday and will be speaking to you anyway, won't I ?
