I've recently started looking at buying some new Hi-Fi kit and stumbled across this sub-forum so thought I'd ask for some advice.

I have a very small flat in central London that I'm using more and more. It has been equipped with left over stuff from other properties with the Hi-Fi being an old Onkyo mini all in one CD/Tuner/Amp (with an ancient ipod dock) paired to Cambridge Audio S30 speakers. A Bluetooth adapter allows me to stream music.

I was watching TV the other day and thought it'd be nice to have a better sound. Rightly or wrongly, I bought a Tangent Ampster II - mainly because I'm limited on space but also as I only need Bluetooth and optical inputs. One of the reviews I read on the Tangent mentioned it'd be well paired with some Monitor Audio Monitor 50 speakers so that got me looking to spend some more money. Of course as soon as the search commences things can quickly get out of hand!

I'm really limited on space - max 31cm high. If I can avoid spending less than £200 it'd be good but I'm not adverse to splashing out if needed.

This is really only going to be used for enhancing the TV sound and for streaming Centreforce radio (dance music). To give you an idea of my lack of appreciation on this subject, my other TVs are paired to Polk Signa S2 soundbars which, to my ear, sound great.

Any recommendations would be gratefully received. Thanks!

I have the Tangent Ampster 2 and some Dali speakers along with a Yamaha sub that I bought from Richer Sounds when I set my office up.

So far it has been a great budget setup. Consider looking on eBay for cheaper speakers.
