I’m looking at buying a used 2011 Peugeot 3008. It’s a diesel and has just over 160k miles on the clock.

As I work from home, I only use the car for the odd trip to the shop or my parents through the week and then weekend driving which again is never far. I barely drive 3000 miles a year

My question is - I know 160,000 is high mileage BUT assuming the car is in as good condition as it appears to be in the advert and given the low miles I drive, is it worth buying the car?

for 3000 miles and short trips buy a petrol

you're asking for for issues with modern a modern diesel on that kind of duty cycle

I'd be far more concerned about using a diesel for such little mileage and short trips.

The DPF will clog up potentially resulting in some pretty large bills.

Definitely keep looking about but I'd focus more on Petrol.

How much is it?

How much do you want to spend on a car?

What size of car do you need?

As the value of such a high mileage car is pretty low i would question why they are looking to offload it.

Have they been told its about to implode so to move it on swiftly. If its the 1.6 diesel these are known to eat the turbo and then screw the rest of the engine.

For your usage i would suggest something petrol from the likes of Kia, Toyota or honda.

Like the others have said, don't buy it if you are only doing short journeys, it'll cause you problems. Get one of these instead

I've just bought a 3008 diesel with 253k on it, and it runs a treat. No problems at all, and it feels like it's done 100k.

But as others have said, the short journeys might not do it any good.
