Way back in time Ask Jeeves used to have a feature where you could see what the last 10 searches had been - and given the way you are supposed to phrase questions to use it best it was pretty funny. The idea of some 50 year old furiously err. playing, at their computer, asking the butler 'where can i find pictures of...'

The Guardian used to have a Top 10 of internet searches, though it said at the top "Prurient content omitted" which I presume Hotmail also does otherwise the top 10 searches would look something like:

1. Porn
2. Breasts
3. Tits
4. Naked
5. Wet
6. Lesbians
7. Hot sluts
8. Anal
9. C**t
10. Schoolgirls

Apparently in the google head office there is a screen that displays all the search phrases that are being searched for as they are put in (so I read in a newspaper article) I always get the evil urge to put in lots of nasty search strings just to entertain their visitors

Like this, in fact... it's called Live Query. It's G-rated (now) so most of the sex words are filtered out. But it does, apparently, struggle with foreign swear words.

Funny you should say that. Everytime I talk to my friend about PistonHeads, she always laughs and says, "Ooh! Piston heads sounds a bit rude, like, pissed-on heads."

Funny you should say that. One of our PHers got some serious grief from a colleague along the lines of "that's disgusting. You shouldn't be looking at sites like that on work time" when he said he regularly visited "pissed-on heads" (well, that's what his colleague thought he said) in his lunch hour.
