I’ve had a look around but can’t see much on the forum about these cars. Has anyone had a go yet or own one?

Really wondering if it can compete with the similar priced main stream luxury brands. After something comfortable and quiet above anything else.

I have only driven the RAV4 & it was a very pleasent smooth relaxing car to drive. Yes the their was more wind noise on the Motorway than I remember when I last drove a Volvo XC40 but not a problem.
On the motorway at around 70 is was showing around 43 mpg which I thought was excellent.

Note this was not the plug in one just the normal hybrid.

Thanks for the info, it seems reviews focus on the extra performance of the PHEV against the self chargers at the moment, not many give a realistic review of the RAV 4 as a daily driver.

I'm hoping to get a back to back test drive of both lined up soon as the dealers are about 50m apart on one road.

Test drive a RAV4 plug in yesterday, typical AC told me I had it for an hour but had less than 50% battery and about 3/4 gallon of fuel ! Anyway managed 18 mile giving it the beans in the various drive modes and I was honestly impressed. On return to salesman’s desk he held up an iPad…. They tracked me ! First thing I said was does it tell you how fast I was going ? No reply but it did show av mpg at 67.1 Quiet- yes, smooth - very, Luxury mmmmm.

Interesting and good to hear. What car do you drive as a daily to compare it against?

the previous NX was quite different inside to the Rav. sound insulation is a big thing for Lexus. don't know about latest models, but I'd have hoped for similar differentiation.

The Lexus NX is nice but the one we had wasn't great on fuel. On a 400-mile motorway trip it averaged 35mpg.

Was that the PHEV or the self charging one?

I do suspect longer journeys on the motorway will be a weakness of the pHEV especially considering the extra weight and reliance on the petrol motor so much.

Self charging and yes.

IIRC the setup in the previous NX is the one they use in the latest model RAV4.......2.5L hybrid?
