Daft question for fellow absent-minded drivers of older Hondas...

My 1st gen CR-V had a warning buzzer to let you know you'd left the lights on when you opened the driver's door. We've now got a 2nd gen CR-V with no buzzer. I have just had to charge the battery for the second time in recent weeks after leaving the lights on.

Was the warning buzzer an aftermarket addition to the 1st gen or was it standard? Should there be a warning on the 2nd gen and it's just not working?

Just in case anybody was wondering, the door jamb switch on the driver's side seems to be knackered - it's not operating the interior light either although I hadn't noticed that because the interior light comes on when you unlock the car. I'm going to swap the driver and passenger side switches to verify, then I'll get a replacement switch.

I'm amazed and gratified at the level of interest this thread has generated biggrin so I'll close by confirming that swapping the door switches over has cured the problem and the lights-on warning buzzer now works. Additional benefits are the interior light comes on when you open the driver's door, and the car doesn't try to lock itself after 30 seconds when you've opened the driver's door.

If anybody else needs to do this, use a clothes peg to stop the wiring harness disappearing inside the door frame.
