Help, I dont exist

My property doesnt seem to exist when when ordering things online, applying for finance, etc. Post code is correct, im on the electoral role, paying council tax but everywhere I go the property just doesnt exist. The council cant help, would contacting experian be the next step?

Have you ever tried taking a picture of your house? If you just see trees/grass when it's printed off then you have a problem.

Yeah - took a couple of years for our house to start appearing after it was built.

My flat is a new build and doesn't appear on any maps or anything. It's a right pain trying to get quotes for anything online because the postcode isn't recognised.

In fact, I can't even get British Gas to send me an electricity bill because they say my meter doesn't exist.

Watch out for this one. We got to the point where we had had no bill for eighteen months/two years. All had to be paid at once. Ouch.

Yeah, I know. Which is why I'm pushing to get it sorted as quickly as possible. I've been here 6 months already. They've told me they're doing it as quickly as possible but I can't understand how it can take so long for them to say "Yes there's a meter, yes, you've got electricity, you're the homeowner, here's a bill" but I suppose they have to milk the maximum of beauracratic incompetence out of it.

I think it's the post office you have to talk to. They send out CDs with all the address information. Our place is currently identified as a business address (it was a farm), so getting some people to deliver is a real pain. If you let them know, the new data will go out in a few month's time.

Check out the Royal Mail website - there's no obvious address so I think I just ended up sending in a general enquiry.

Our house had its name changed several years before we bought it (and we've been here for 3½ years) and everyone including the Royal Mail (who I take them to be the authority on the address and postcode of a property) know and accept the current name.

Everyone, that is, apart from British Telecom. I had a visiting BT engineer actually tell me the name of my house was wrong! Yes, not that BT had a wrong / outdated name, but that my house had the wrong name!

You couldn't make it up really.

The greedy money suckers all know I exist, Ive been here 18 months, its not a new address, im on the electoral role and pay council tax, get voting cards and bills but every database in existance just... doesnt have my details!

A friend of mine did a year out during university and was contacted to pay for his course fees.
Mate "But I'm not a student right now, I'm doing an industrial placement for a year"
