Likely a fair few people had to cry off this years classic at short notice because of covid and like me will have filled in the form that said the tickets would be rolled over tp 2022. I have been trying to chase this up since the 2022 event was annouced but whilst the lady on the phone is very helpful neither she nor I can get any information from the organisers. They simply ignore emails.

Is anyone else getting this issue? Has anyone succeeded in getting their tickets rolled over?

Nobody experienced the same problem? I have sent at least 4 emails to Silverstone without a single reply.

I may be wrong but as the event went ahead in 2021, in accordance with Govt guidelines, they will not allow you to rollover tickets to 2022 based on individual circumstances.

They offered to do just that at the time. Cant remember whether it was in an email but there was a form to fill in.

It is going ahead for 2022 on the August bank holiday weekend. Silverstone don't organise the classic, the circuit is simply hired from them, and the whole thing is organised and run by a company called Goose Live Events.

Have you been contacting Silverstone or Goose?

It clearly often struggles to make money unbelievably as it seems to change hands every couple of years, either that or Silverstone just up the hosting fee every time and exclude companies that did a good job but are outbid. It is why I never go anymore, it became simply a very pricey club meeting for me sadly. Thankfully I went to the first few when it was its proper self.

I too have been going for years but still love it . I have never been to a club meeting with 1100 entries , nor one with a 30car plus field of F1 cars. It costs me the equivalent of about 18 quid a day (car club discount BOGF ticket ) . The circuit is far from the best for spectating but the ability to wander around pit garages and stand at the edge of the pit lane , mid race , is priceless these days .

It’s easier just to ignore Luke sadly. He knows what he is missing but has dug his trench…

Oh leave it out , do . You are harking back to some mythical golden era which never existed and what has changed more is perhaps your own good self ? I first went to Silverstone 50 years ago, and I won't deny I still get a thrill at the Classic .

The only time I see my car club is when I park up every morning , and again when I leave 12 hours later. But if folk want to congregate and compare thrunge sprockets with kindred spirits , good luck to them. Does that make them saddos , or just enthusiasts who haven't become cynics ? And thanks to the generosity of car club members I've been able to sit in and and talk about cars I'd only ever dream of owning , or once owned long , long ago .

As for bands , I have yet to watch one of them. At a site as big as this one you can easily get miles away

The Silverstone Classic is hardly the only event to be full of car clubs. Do you right off all the others meets for this reason as well?

Sorry chap, we all have things we like and dislike about this event, and the cost and what it became is what I dislike now, it is a bigger than average historic event and despite living only 20 miles always now would I pay upwards of 50 quid per day? No as I could get to 3 or 4 other meetings offering me, personally more for that.

It never used to be that way but has been now for some time and despite it constantly seeming to be promoted by different people it continues to make money. I don't know how, but as I say it has been off my radar for some time. much like most big historic events as they are all a big cash grab really, but it must work as they wouldn't do it.

I did the car club thing once, was embarrassing to be honest, might work for some but was truly a hateful experience, that was enough, might work for some but not for me.

And bands, dont even start, I get why they do it, but for the Love of God.

I still want to know where these £15 meetings full of Group 4, Historic F1, LMP1 and 60s GT races are…..
