What are the terms of reference?
She has said, "I want to assure the British public that, once the terms of reference are finalised, I shall do my utmost to ensure the inquiry answers as many questions as possible about the UK’s response to the pandemic so that we can all learn lessons for the future.”I could suggest a couple,
- Why has Covid been more lethal in UK than in other countries?
- Why did so many deaths occur in care homes?
It should be considering the collateral impact on inter alia matters such as mental health, disruption to education, wider health impacts (undiagnosed cancer etc), and civil liberties if the findings are to be of any benefit in deciding how to set policy for dealing with future pandemics.
I rather suspect it won't though

Canwe expect a day-by-day blow-by-blow account, or should we all just re-convene in 12 months 3 years time?
I fear the latter. From what she's said today it sounds as though this gravy train will run and run.To my mind the Grenfell situation shows just how bad UK is at dealing with these things in anything resembling an effective fashion. Grenfell Tower still stands there today as a monument to bureaucratic delay and prevarication - the fire was more than five years ago.
