How bad are these tyre cracks?
Discussion
Not aged well at all.
Interestingly whilst many tyre sites say you should carefully check your tyres once they're 7+ years old Michelin's own site says 5 years.

Think new ones would be an idea.

Thanks guys, only had the car a year and its done 30k total (10k by me in the last year)
So just booked for 4 new tyres this afternoon, Falken, never had them, hope they are going to be ok. Not worth risking it I dont think.
My thought was when water sits in those cracks and we get frosts, the cracks are going to deteriorate quickly?

As said, looks cosmetic only. I have before ripped off chunks of tyres and the rubber goes 10mm or more deep. It's rubber, so frost shouldn't matter is my guess? will just expand a but and reduce again. But it's a small size tyre so guessing didn't cost relatively much to replace.
but but Michelin can do no wrong here
Impressed with Falkens so far, set on a hard driven family Civic proved good, chucked a set on my rapid Forester for summer use, again no complaints and wearing well, 914s on the Foz dunno whether they were called ecorun or not, it appears 310 replaced 914 so chances are a good choice.

You can ask, lol, I know nearly nothing about tyres, no idea what Eco means in tyres, and the old ones were on there when I bought it.
Generally means they compromised grip and response for reduced rolling resistance for higher MPG. Of course a good choice if you drive up and down motorways and need to save as much money as possible, but there are better options for spirited driving, handling, grip etc. Gassing Station | Suspension, Brakes & Tyres | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
