cool...it's gonna be made of cardboard! I love 'spy shots' and 'artists impressions'....they always bear so much resemblance to the finished product!

Alex, no way!! Too early to judge yet, but if this is a true sign of things to come, I think it can pass safely with no harm to the wallet.

5.0-liter V-10 with more than 500 horsepower

"Baby" Lambo?
With such characteristics I'm not sure it is a "small sister" to the Murciélago.

I wonder which choice components from which VAG parts bins is this made up of?

Who needs bespoke super cars in the wonderful world of Obermeister Piech?

The Diablo was pretty much (even in it's Audufied latter stages) the last Lambo.

Only Ferrari left now.

Oi! TVR make pretty much everything that goes into their supercars.

And they're not owned by an automotive giant.

And we love 'em.

I'm actually a big big fan of the Lamborghini Diablo - more so after driving the Murcielago - I saw a Black Diablo GT when I went for the drive and it's THAT car that I have my heart set on.

Spy-shots tell you NOTHING about what the end product actually looks like.
Next years limited edition lightweight Ferrari 360 "GTO" is the car that I am anticipating most. I do wander just how much of this new baby V10 Lamborghini will be Lamborghini and how much will be Audi....

Hmmmm.....

Have to agree with you about the Diablo, that or maybe a Contach is what I hope to have next,Manu....will just have to wait and see how the new baby shapes up.(in more ways the one!)

Lamborghini are definitely using a lot of Audi parts. An Audi salesman told me that the new lambo uses a hell of a lot, gearboxes et al. Audi scrapped ideas of their own supercar so that they could use the Lamborghini to target that particular genre of buyer.
It makes more sense for them to do it that way.

It does seem that the new lambo will be an audi RS4 wearing a smart new suit. A quality car for sure, but an expensive makeover. I'd rather have an everyday RS4 and the majic of a 360's soundtrack for the weekends - all for the same outlay.

Don't write off all the other small manufacturers that might borrow the odd bit or so, but still make it look original (Morgan, LSCC, Noble [ok - quite a bit is ford, but quit a bit isn't!]) Compared to sharing whole floorplans, it's a bit different!

Mind you - don't Ferrari now supply a whole load of bits for Mazzers?

Tis true Joust.

If you drive a Maserati today you're essentially driving a type of Ferrari.

Actually Joust - you're right!

Having just blubbed over the Ultima website (quite splendid vehicles) and re-read a couple of Noble reviews (stunning) I'm back on yer wavelength!

I'm really attacking the giants of supercardom: Tailslider hit the nail quite perfectly on the head - an RS6 AND a 360? Er, yes please!

And of course, PW's outfit. All hail Blackpool's most glorious outpourings.

Sharing audi bits and pieces isn't necessarily a bad thing. Reliability certainly will be improved along with easy to get hold of parts.

I disagree that the car is a dressed up RS4 or RS6. Handling wise there is no comparison. Those cars are super saloons with great engines but not sports cars.

All true. Although for +150k I expect not just ability, but great character too. No matter how damn fine an audi is, even dressed up in lambo / bentley designer togs, it'll never have the majic of a ferrari. My boss has the perfect cars IMO - an audi RS4 and a 355. I have the new S4 on order, and one day would love a 355 too. Trouble is I'm too poor at present. One day, maybe...

It's very interetsing to me that for some reason, maybe because it's a recent acquisiton, there is feeling that somehow 'Lamborghini is Audi', but 'Ferrari isn't Fiat'. er...sorry? Now don't get me wrong, I doubt that many prancing horses have raided the multipla parts bin, but neither do Lamborghini use A2 wipers.

Having been on a fairly extensive factory tour since the takeover (and several times before) I can tell you that aside from the addition of some efficiency and commen sense (which is always mising in the Italian world of arm waving) it is still TOTALLY Lmaborghini...maybe targets are more seriously considered, so they cannot take as many outrageous risks, but the cars are theirs, not Audis. Audi bring cash, comfort and sense...and that's about it

In my view, the 360 is the most 'genteel' Ferrari ever created....does that make it worse?

N

p.s. I have a good idea of what the baby will look like, and it aint a lot like those spy shots!
