I recently reacquainted myself with Betty Blue - a French film from the 80s - partly because I'd caught a glimpse of Beatrice Dalle today and wanted to remind myself of why I was rather fond of her in my late teens - and partly on the basis of new information I'd read that revealed the sex scenes were in fact real, to such a level that some severe editing was required to prevent the film being classified porn.

This got me thinking as to what other films include real nookie; confirmed or alleged.

Have you heard of

Pornhub, redtube, xhamster etc

That the films on there don’t get Oscars is societal travesty.

this had notoriety a few years ago as it stars a young Lea Seydoux when she appeared in 007/ Spectre.

Blue is the Warmest Colour, Don't Look Now and Lassie Come Home all featured simulated sex scenes IIRC. There are a number of hardcore scenes in Caligula, a delightful younger Helen Mirren features in the movie.

What's truly odd to me is how almost any form of full nudity is censored from films (don't dare show a nipple!) whilst at the same time some are far more explicit than ever before - just with a tiny cover or blur. It's like typing fk with a dinky asterisk and everyone pretending it's somehow different from putting a u in it. Or talking about the n word.

And then there's Cardi B.

mod edit. Please do not bypass the swear filter.

If we are including the much more interesting girl on girl action as nookie then The Killing Of Sister George
has an interesting interlude, and it looks real to me [ not being an expert admittedly ]

Which brings to mind Barbarella, with Jane Fonda and Anita Pallenberg, I haven't seen it for years so need a refresh to see whether it was real or not wink.

I can think of a few more…

Intimacy with Kerry Fox & Mark Rylance. Then there’s Antichrist, Willem Defoe & Charlotte Gainsbourg, this was directed by Lars Von Trier who directed Nymphomaniac which also had real nookie.

Whenever a Carry On film appears on the telly, Bab's bare bum and boobs are no longer allowed to be shown.

Yet we have a game show where contestants choose a date based upon the inspection of the qualities or otherwise of someone's bits and bobs.

The BBFC cite context as the primary driving factor in acceptable nudity. I believe there exists a detailed scale that describes the various states of tumescence in the male that determines acceptability. I don't know about anyone else but I'm somewhat binary in that regards so respect to the actors capable of maintaining anything other for the time needed to shoot a scene.

I remember an interview with Toyah Wilcox about Quadrophenia where she admitted that a sex scene (in an alley I think she said, I've not seen the film) was rather more realistic than people realised..!
