He'll get what's coming to him....

(Some interest free earnings, nice weather, neighbouring F1 drivers, won't get mugged again)

It's not. I would do it... Most people already do the same thing in principal on a far lesser scale without giving it any real thought.

There we go... Here they come. Lando is as we say, doing all right... got a few quid and a whole life ahead of him. Good luck to him. I really don't understand the upset it causes in this country.

Specifically in this country... it's a British trait to find a way to criticise anyone who does better than oneself!

It's only certain sorts of people though. When you think about it... choosing to go out of your way to live in the drizzle for the sake of paying more tax than you legally need to is a dumb move. Therefore people that think he should do that mostly aren't going to have the best finances themselves - because their opinion proves they can't make sensible financial decisions. Plainly, that group of people will be particularly fed up that a young Lad gets to swan off to warm and sunny country and pay less % tax than they do on his millions.

tis what it is..

I know there's tax benefits, but are they amplified because of the nature of F1 driver's international earnings?

Let's be honest, we'd probably all do it if we could.

People moan about the tax aspect, but I think Hamilton mentioned that F1 drivers earn money in 23 different countries so have to pay the local taxes on top of what the UK want.

I think it was partly the reason the Indian GP failed, as the government were being a pain with tax.

Just wait until he starts winning races and championships!

That latin phrase around the edge of a Pound Coin actually reads "Try hard but whatever you do, don't succeed".

Nope, the opposite if anything. They pay a lot of tax to the countries they earn the money in in many cases. But their own personal income from their brand, the portion of their salary that can be attribute to non GP work effort etc, that is taxed at the country that income is registered at - which for Norris will soon be Monaco. Which is fair enough, a person should pay the tax due in the country they choose to live in.

Australians are very good at it as well. They love to knock people back to where they think they should be.

I never get the whole outrage over tax thing personally. Norris has probably paid more tax already than most people would in one (or even more) lifetimes and he's moving to another country rather than trying to take advantage of the UK while squirreling money away in off shore funds etc.

It's just a bit greedy, paying uk tax would have minimal effect on his lifestyle, he would still be a top 0.1% earner.

Like I said, I don't care though, it's legal, good luck to him.

Quite.

And at a certain wealth level, you're virtually zero drain on whatever country you live in anyway. If Lando needs medical treatment for example, he's going to go to a private hospital. He's never going to draw a state pension, he'll have privately funded care in his old age etc etc etc.

Those complaining generally will go on to claim the above state benefits.

You pay the tax for the country you live in. If you chose to move to Greece would you go out of your way to find some convoluted and probably illegal manner in which you can still pay UK tax? Or are you saying it's greedy to want to live somewhere other than the UK? We should all stay put forevermore? (England would uninhabited until this day if that were true..)

He's moved to live in a different country that have different rules. He won't be using services in the UK so he won't be taking anything from the rest of us. It's really not something that can be looked at as greedy.

Anyone calling it a dick move is jealous they are unable to make such a move themselves.

I would if I could. Anyone who wants to complain is quite welcome to pay any additional tax they want (seriously, HMRC will accept it).
