Hi
Looking for a lightly used M5C
Can anybody tell me when the most current iteration of the M5 came out? In other words is there a difference between a 2021 car and say a 2019 car?

If there is a difference any idea what the differences are?

Thank you.

I think June 2020 was when the facelift (LCI) was introduced.

Something like this will probably explain the differences better and save me regurgitating it verbatim:

https://www.bmwblog.com/2020/06/16/new-m5-competit...

The standout items for me will be the updated suspension, lights and interior (idrive update, digital dash etc.).

I would drive both and choose that way, as there’s quite a price difference. I’ve just bought a base M5 as I found the equivalent Competition’s suspension a bit too firm.

Thanks, that's just what I needed.
So there's no non Competition cars sold after the LCI?

Cheers

I believe that’s the case, I certainly haven’t seen any base M5 LCI models.

I picked up my car today, very happy with it. Sadly the weather is pretty poor so I can’t fully get to grips with it yet.

I did try briefly, but had a rather squeaky bum moment in the p****** rain. I thought it might be the tyres or bad geometry. Turns out I was fighting with the lane departure warning system. Next time I’ll RTFM getmecoat

Yes, need to switch that crap off, it's an absolute nightmare. There's a few quirks in the LCI model that weren't in the pre-LCI version like that which are very irritating. Overall though, an epic car and probably the best M5 ever

It’s early days and I’m still getting used to the car, but I do really like it so far. However, I still feel my E39 M5 was the sweet spot. The E39 felt like it would shrink around you at speed, the F90 isn’t doing that atm, it does feel smaller than my old C7 RS6, but it’s still a big car.

Something that does standout to me re the F90; the doors feel so light (Alu?) and don’t make that satisfying noise when you shut the door upon getting out. My E39 did do this, and consequently felt like a tank. My Dad’s old E34 was the same. Maybe it’s a sign of the times.

It was the same with the F10 too. My wife always slammed the door shut because she was used to the significant extra heft of those in her Peugeot.

I agree, my first M5 was an E39 (and my second!) and there was something magical about them, for me especially the engine note. That said, the performance of the F90 is just amazing with the 4 wheel drive that can take the power, but it's the handling for a car that size that's just incredible, especially the turn-in. (Shame about the engine note which is the worst ever, at least on the LCI model)
