Thoughts on this 997.1 Turbo
Discussion
Looking at this 997 turbo tomorrow which has been advertised by a Porsche Specialist since Sept.
Spec is good, bulk of options listed below.
- Carbon brakes
- Short shifter
- Rear LSD
- Chrono
- Active seats
- Full camel leather
- Reverse sensors
- Phone prep
- Painted side skirts
- Sunroof
Car has covered just under 50k and is a manual.
Any thoughts on this? Under 60 grand, good service history, looks to be in good condition.
My concerns are the interior color and I will be the 8th owner. Average 1 owner every 2 years and the current since 2017.

There was one in that exact rare spec LSD with pccb that had a cargraphic tuning kit on it. Car always had a check engine light post tuning. Check its not that one and or the engine check light issue resolved as spec is identical original owner spent £50k on mods inc suspension etc. Not an issue this was over 10 years ago it even featured in 911 and Porsche World so I expect fixed now.

One problem with Savannah / Sand leather is dash reflections.
In the summer it can be very noticeable and quite distracting, just worth mentioning as if you’re test driving today you’ll probably not notice it in the gloomy conditions.
I had it on a Boxster S many moons ago and although I loved the contrast (with Midnight Blue), it was off putting enough for me to avoid having again.
Also, Midnight Blue paintwork is a nightmare to keep swirl free and looking good. Just FYI

Number of owners isn’t an issue in itself. I had two of these and only had each for under 2 years and not because they were problematic and I kept them tip top. Condition and service history is more important.
Colour scheme is personal (I don’t think the interior suits this type of car personally but maybe that’s just me). Exterior colour is lovely and would be at or near the top of my list for a turbo (easier to look after than my two basalt black turbos).
Have you driven the .1 turbo? I loved mine but concluded I wasn’t having fun unless travelling at warp speed (the only way to get them up on their toes). Found them not very engaging at sane road speeds, so they became a big licence risk. Changed to a 7.2 GTS and that has stuck around for nearly 8 years as I enjoy it below custodial sentence speed (unlike the turbos).
If your ticking a turbo box, then the above doesn’t matter but if you’re looking for a keeper make sure the model suits your driving demands.
