I have a 1983 TVR Tasmin or 2.8i. Gearbox Ford Type E four speed. I need a new speedo drive gear. Can anyone help with the following issues please?
1. Does anyone know where I can get one? Having trouble finding any in the usual TVR specialist websites.
2. How many teeth?
3. Is it the same part as the type 9 gearbox? Burtonpower catalogue says it is, but NLA

Thanks for any help you can give.

Not sure of how many teeth.

23 tooth one here:

https://www.bearingkits.co.uk/FORD-CORTINA-ESCORT-...

22 tooth one here:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324778153969?mkevt=1&am...

I might be wrong but a Ford type 9 gearbox drive may be the same drive?

Speedo Driven Gear.

1.6 6011059 22 teeth

2.0 6011061 24 teeth

3.0 1612793 22 teeth

2.8 1612793 22 teeth

If the old one is no longer you may have to do some calculations to determine teeth count I think.

Do you have your old one?

they are colour coded to save having to count number of teeth, what colour is it?

Yes tis correct colour would be relevant for NOS, but probably moulded with anything to hand if aftermarket. It is probably better do a calc, to get the number of teeth, if not known?

Thank you all for your help. Bill at Dominion Spares here in the USA has the part. It is 18 teeth, Verified by two different parts lists. Parts For TVRs in the UK didn't have the part but had the Ford part number.

That is the second one Bill has sold recently smile . I have stripped a couple over they years. Initially I thought it was binding at the in the retaining bushing but now I wonder if the cable is sticking. To be determined. Grady
