I have just been offered a 360 spider at list 2002 uk car, 2000 miles.

Its a stretch for me to get it if i replace the 355 with it. If I trade the 996 and 355 it would be a daily ish driver with cash left over for something practical. The 360 spider was my dream car, I got the 355 mainly to get into the 360.

What do i do. My heart says one thing my head another. The 355 is such a fantastic car and the 996 is an awesome machine. Help!!!

Rich,
I remember reading in a mag sometime,if you get a chance to have a Ferrari in your lifetime buy it.The 360 spider has in my view got to be the best Ferrari that money can buy(unless you can afford a 575 or F50!)Go for it if you can afford it,you only have one life!

Can't comment, I can't see myself ever wanting to sell the turbo.

Is the 360 spyder that much better then the 355 spyder?

Although only one lot of depreciation and mega insurance would probably be nice.

DAZ

PS - You probably know what you're going to do. Just do it and don't look back.

thanks for the words guys.

dang and blast.

One expensive car and one lot of insurance... The 360 spider will not lose as much cash as the other 2. hmmm.

Rich - colour and spec are absolutely VITAL before you can even consider.... got anymore details?
Remember even at list price you're still paying a premuim over and above what you WOULD be paying for a car with 2K on the clock.....

Go for it!!

As much as I loved the 355spyder and 996TT when I was taken out, the Tubi'd 360 was the one that I really wanted to go home in...
As Manu say's make sure it is the right colour and spec (that'll be red then!!).

Maybe spend that spare cash on a security guard!!

Rich, buy the Modena, get a Tubi from Manu, then for gawd's sake hold onto it - you get through cars like Mungo gets through women!

Hey Rich.

If you do get it are we going to see you attend a meet? If so can I put my name down for a passenger ride?

DAZ

PS1 - To date at meets, so busy driving everyone else, I've yet to experience a passenger ride.

PS2 - Steve your flatnose is still number one on my " I want a passenger ride list". No offence Rich it's just a Porsche addiction thing!

Manu,

choice of two.

Black manual 2002, daytona spec whatever that is.

Rosso Corsa F1 waiting for fax with specs at the moment.

Black looks really nice on these cars. Red looks better, but Im not sure about the F1.

Rich,
Having driven both manual and F1, my personal recommendation would be the manual. I also think the 360 looks best in black or silver. The red does not do it justice.

Have fun, whichever you choose

If they are genuinely selling at "LIST PRICE" (this COULD be bullshit) then get one. The manual black one is the one to go for - in the UK market.
Daytona spec??? WTF??- perhaps they mean Daytona seats.
If it's list then it must be Authorised Dealer becuase everyone else is charging silly premiums right?
PS. It IS RHD right?

Listen Rich - give me a bell or feel free to email me offline if you're serious because there is lot to be said and moreover......

Hi Steve.

Won't be doing VW but will take you up on the offer at the next event we're both at.

Rich.

I'm normally a traditionalist with Fezzas, got to be red, but I saw a silver 360 spyder at the Ring in sept and it looked quite stunning. At the time I thought to myself I wouldn't mind buying one of those in 6 or 7 years time when they're at about £40k (to keep the porker company in the garage during cold evenings)

Got to be manual though. And Maranello challenge grills look cool as well.

DAZ

PS - I think the Daytona option is a handling pack. Can anyone confirm?

Dazren for the 550/355 it was called a the Fiorano handling pack. I'm fairly sure that (if it's available for the 360) then it would be called the same thing.
You can get front and rear challenge grills and they look AWESOME on black 360's. Scuderia shields are great on the 360, red calipers look lovely.... the list goes on. The modular split rims are becoming more popular but I reckon slightly contrasting and tastefully chosen coloured rollbars on the Spider are a must.

I'd go for red if I was lucky enough to be in Rich's position!

Rich - you sound like you've made your mind up! In your position I would do it, but get the right car. IMHO, this is not the F1 but you need to check this for yourself. Never managed to rationalise a sports car decision- if you want to do it and can do it, then just do it. Wouldn't be too sure about it working from the 'one lot of depreciation' argument, since the replacement with the Maser engine is due next year and the stock market is still in the toilet. And it's winter so you should be able to drive a hard deal and if neither is what you want then walk away.

Daz- I've never heard of the daytona handling pack. Daytona style leather (seats etc.) yes, and it looks great in V12s; not sure about the V8s.

Oh, and the Tubi is an absolute must.

Good luck

Hi Manu.

I'd heard of the Fiorano pack on the 355/550, just thought they may have changed the name to Daytona as the USA is by far their biggest market.

You appear to be spot on in that William Loughran has a 360 where he refers to "Daytona Seat Trim".

DAZ

Edited to say, Kev your on the ball as well, cheers!
