Widely regarded to be a crap idea, and has added very little to a race weekend. Until we get to the last race of the year with it in and one of the key players gets disqualified from pre-qualifying (or whatever the hell the Friday afternoon session is called) and has to start the sprint at the back, at a circuit which is know to produce overtaking…

Just seems a bit to convenient to me.

I like the sprint races and all you miss is one of the free practice sessions.

I agree, this format adds a lot more interest.

It would work far better with a more random grid, as yesterday showed. The previous two sprints have been boring processions where everyone was too worried about compromising the Sunday race to take any risks. Yesterday Hamilton had to take risks and it was far more entertaining.

The other option is to offer more points for the Sprint. That might give drivers a bit more incentive.

I agree, any minuscule gain in points is not worth the pain of driving too hard. Why would any midfielder risk defending hard against Lewis in a faster car knowing that he would be punted back for the race. Yesterday was easily the most interesting Sprint and I like that F1 is prepared to try something new. However, on the whole, I feel Sprints have been a bit of a flop.

Half points and a fastest lap seems a better incentive for the teams to put on a better show.

Grid positions & decent points down the field would certainly be an incentive for the entire field.
On the fence at the moment... not convinced until it has been severely tweaked for the proposed six next year.

Yep, it basically replaces one of the free practice sessions, which are often very dull, so I would say that they are a good thing.
