Can I order a 992 GT3 touring in Europe?
Discussion
Since getting hold of a UK car is near impossible I was wondering if it were possible to order a new car on the Continent? I thought it might be worthwhile to look into, but wondered if anyone on here had the experience of doing it already.
I would be ok with LHD for European Roadtrips and Trackdays, its probably my last ICE car so i'd like to spec it myself.

Hi gbrown
You would be doing very well getting one in the next 12-16 months. I am taking delivery of mine next week from Porsche in Munich (shipment from Zuffenhausen has been confirmed) and that will be the first Touring delivered from the OPC. All their production slots for 2022 are filled + many more unfilled orders so that will probably stretch into 2023.
You might off course still be able to pick one up above list but then the situation is not that different from the UK.

I would call Porsche centers - ideally not the ones in big (and wealthy) cities like Munich to try to get a slot. Porsche Salzburg might be a good Option.
Failing that, you could buy a freely configurable slot - 24k plus VAT (I think) as an example

Good luck

Bear in mind that next year you'll need the exporting party to prove that a sufficient percentage of the vehicle has been manufactured in the EU in order to avoid incurring a tariff fee.
This is non-trivial, and it's anticipated that many will choose to (make the buyer) pay the tariff rather than go through all the work - which would mean 10% on top of the cost of the vehicle, then add the shipping, and finally add VAT to the previous total.
Or, Porsche may provide this documentation to the exporter that you are using, who can then hand it over - unclear who has liability there if something is wrong though.
At the moment that's being done on (ahem) a self-certification basis, which is due to change at the start of the year. The UK may of course kick that can down the road again.
