The SST gearbox has gone on my FQ330.

Anyone know someone good who rebuilds/repairs them or a way to get one cheap?

The estimate read £11k to repair and the car is worth around £9k!

Should I consider putting in a manual box...?

Depending on where in Warwickshire you are, it might be worth speaking to Auto Torque in Bucks - they've been my go-to specialist for my Evo 5. They seem to rebuild quite a few Evo X SST 'boxes - no idea about cost though I'm afraid.

They recently put up a video about the SST gearbox issues they've come across - https://youtu.be/j26-p25-Kfw

Another vote for AutoTorque, they've been taking care of my Evo 6 for 10 years, not sure there are any better in the country with Evos these days.

Just realised this was an oldish thread. Where did you end up going?

I was thinking auto torque or indigo but both are many miles from me hassles of getting the car from Glasgow to them

The gearboxes are weak so best uprated.

If you want a proper job done https://www.tdi-plc.com/product-category/japanese-...

They do installations too.
