how wide should the gap be??

Having adjusted the bonnet I am wondering if I have moved it far enough back....

The gap I have where the bonnet meets the bodywork at the wheelarch is 5-6 mm is this too big or about right??

No that isn't right, it is far too small. You'll have to park down the far end of the car park at SCH so you don't show everyone else up.
