Just a heads up. The clocks are back and we’re in for a grey, wet Sunday. No Grand Prix and the best of the Premiership games were yesterday. I’m Welsh so won’t mention the Rugby.

So why not tune into the BRSCC’s live stream from Brands. The FF Festival went through some lean years but is back to a strong 100 + entry this year including veteran returnees Moreno & Magnussen. Weather conditions today = wet and windy so to borrow from Trump “it’s going to be wild”.

5 FF races today, starting at 11am and with the final at approx. 3.40pm. Enjoy.

Sorry but the festival just isn't the same any more. The fact that almost half the entrants aren't Formula Ford cars tells you that.

5 FF races in a day is hardly a festival. We used to have to keep an eye on the clock to make sure we got all the FF races in before it went dark

As for the live stream I gave up yesterday as it was buffeting too much.

Yep agree, the FF festival lost its relevance and intensity a couple of decades ago. However, any FF race at Brands floats my boat.

Other than Le Mans it was the event that I looked forward to more than any other during the year. This is 1985 and the final part of Gachot's enormous Paddock Hill accident - I know I would never have been a professional photographer. The fact that Bertrand was fortunate enough to go on to have an (albeit abbreviated) career in motorsport was down to the long-forgotten Ruairi O'Coilean in one of the Duckhams Van Diemens. He managed to miss Bert's head by a few cms...

Some guy called Herbert won that year and went on to have some success....

It’s excellent club motorsport.. time has moved on, but this is definitely stronger than previous years. YouTube coverage and commentary today is good as well.

Good 3rd for Chris Goodwin in the historic FF final. Must be a while since he sat in an FF.

Pity that Roberto Moreno ended up in the gravel at Paddock…

I am not denying times have moved on, all I am saying is it isn't really what I would call a FF festival.

Just gone onto the live feed and the quality has improved, but what is currently racing Mazda MX5's

5 cars for a 20-minute AMOC and GT4 race. Is that what makes excellent club motorsport?

No, but you are being very selective … the upcoming grid of 30 for the FF final with about 10 potential winners does it for me.

Incidentally you are obviously still watching the stream ?

There were 4 heats and 2 “progression” races yesterday, 2 semi finals today, a “last chance” race, an historic race and then the festival final…. I’m not sure they could got all that into a single day (to include qualifying for the heats which was yesterday morning!)….

I’ve seen grids of 5 or 6 at Combe before and usually similar cars to the GT/GT4 race, the ones that are expensive to run and maintain…. but with no championship to race for today, I’m not surprised owners/drivers stayed away, Brands Indy is hardly the ideal circuit for GT4 cars.

11 car battle for the win on the final lap, I nearly fell asleep.

Special mention for the 2 commentators who were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and somehow managed to keep up to speed with most of the action. That could act as a lesson for some other more high-profile broadcasters....

My comments about the AMOC race was as much to do with its inclusion in the "festival". It has got to the stage that it has to include a "paid*" race, that would never have even been thought about in the past.

Never said I didn't enjoy the actual racing, and yes the final was entertaining.

  • A race where a club/series pays a set amount to race at an event. It is then up to them to get the entries in. Whilst it means the organising club will get their money it does lend itself to small grids.

What an absolutely thrilling final that was, thoroughly enjoyed it.
After a few years in the doldrums, best FF Festival for some time. Well done Brands, BRSCC and all the drivers.
Walter Hayes next weekend smile

Chris had a shakedown race in the Summer he did very well to finish 3rd in the Historics.

Great racing and atmosphere in the Paddock stand today. Agree the AMOC intermarque race should have been booted in favour of a FF2000 allcomers race.

Brilliant, soon it will be like a cut price Goodwood, we’ll have Button vs Pirro vs Franchitti at Brands!
